A Poetic Counterblast to the Cavalier Fellow Traveller Araminta

Not a lot wrong with the boy Lovelace, to be fair. A fine pome and fairly memorable for a couple of lines, quote-wise.

But, utterly trumped by the Parliamentarian Andrew Marvell, in my opinion.

Whackos of the Week

Just for a change, no politicians or bureaucrats, just a ‘normal,’ couple, Kathy Witterick, 38, and husband David Stocker from Canada who are refusing to say whether their new baby is a boy or a girl.  They are, they say,  leaving the decision up to him – or her.  Talk about throwing your children to the wolves – I hope one of their male relatives defies the whacko parents and teaches the boys a good right hook.

Wind Farms

I received an E-mail today asking for help, I repeat it here hoping that some members may be able to offer advice or help.

Good day to you, I run a care facility just outside of Vredenburg where I care for 47 intellectually disabled adults, a substantial number of which are Autistic.

We have just been informed of a developer who is proposing to erect a wind farm on the property bordering ours with 45 wind turbines up to 154 metres high.

I am very concerned about the impact of this proposed project on my sensitive Residents and would be pleased if you could guide us as to any medical papers relating to the impact that these turbines spinning 24 hours a day as well as the associated noise from them would have on Continue reading “Wind Farms”

The House of Lords….what’s the point?

We have recently touched on the Upper House in previous blogs, and we’re eagerly awaiting a Cromwell blog from Araminta. Boadicea has given us an excellent education in the important structure of how we came to be as we are legislature-wise, and I am always trying to learn a little more. The House of Lords has been an institution that I never quite understood, and so have kept quiet as I try to gather information, until now as I am a little confused. RIP uncle Hubert

Today I received a letter, yes a letter not an email so it must be real, from the Agricultural Bank of China informing me that my uncle Hubert has died. Now I must admit I have never met uncle Hubert, but he must be one fantastic guy as he has left me his money, all U$9.35 million.

As it turns out (really) I am having lunch on Wednesday with the compliance manager of the Agricultural Bank of China, so I have asked him if could intervene and get me my money ASAP so that we can have a very good lunch.

I have sent my friend a copy of the letter and he has responded that it is possible the letter may be fake. Now I know emails are fake, but this was a letter with a stamp and posted here in the UK, so therefore it must be real. If the money does not come then I shall of course take legal action to get hold of dear Hubert’s money.

Now to all of you Charioteers out there, providing you sign a “non disclosure” letter so as not to release my name to the press then once the money is in my account I shall treat you all to celebration for a whole week at Disney Land/world in Florida. But please remember if necessary I will take out a super injunction to protect my anonymity.

Money, money money in a rich mans world.

Yippeee I am wealthy.

Advice please Val.

As our resident photographer, and very good I must say, I mentioned in my last blog about birds not standing still.

So there I am in the garden an hour ago and what flies past, very low about roof level, but a sparrow hawk after a pigeon. Fantastic photo shot you may think, and I agree, but I am ion the garden and the damn camera is upstairs in the bedroom. BUGGER IT.

That’s the first time I have seen a sparrow hawk so close to the house, we get them and hobby hawks in the woods down the bottom of our road, but never in our garden.

So Val how do I get round that?
