Take the blame

Let me put a different slant on all this hacking nonsense.

If you go out tomorrow and leave your back door open and the house gets burgled who is to blame? Is it you for being so stupid as to leave your back door open, or is it the police for not being there when the robbery happened? To my mind it is your fault for not securing your property.

Now using the same analogy you have a mobile phone with voice mail, the voice mail is accessed from any other phone by dialling your number then entering a default password (1234 or 0000) because you haven’t had the gumption to change it to a secure number. Thus you have left your back door wide open. Now to me if anyone wants to listen to my voice mail all they will get is “I’ll be late” or “ring me back” etc. but to celebrities they leave an entire story on the phone.

This does not condone what has occurred any more than I forgive the burglar, but people must take responsibility for their own actions or stupidity. But since the last government came to power we have lived in a society of blame.

Insurance and rip off

It is that time of year for me again, car insurance renewal.

For the past few years I have insured through the IAM (Inst of Advanced Motorists) and their people in Northern Ireland, they are my broker so to say. Now I know that insurance has rocketed but from 2 years ago £320 to a quote of £495 now, full no claims, no points etc is ludicrous.

I phoned them and said can you improve on this figure as it seems very high and got the normal “uninsured drivers, legal claims, people suing etc”

Taking this into account I phoned round wasting my time and came up with a quote of £403 from the AA (that was a surprise). I phoned my people back and said, tuff tits better quote from the AA, immediately they quoted £380.

Why do we have brokers when they are not doing the best for me by doing the phoning round and getting the best quote, if they do nothing then I may as well do the calling, but I really feel I should be paying someone else to do this.

Devon

A great week away in Devon, many places visited we stayed at Coleton Fishacre in the Chauffeurs flat, the house was owned by the D’OYLY CARTE family so all 1920’s/30’s. Of an evening we had the 18 acre garden right down to the sea all to ourselves. Day 2 and we visited Greenway, Agatha Christies home, what an interesting woman and the house was as you would expect, interesting and full of every nick nack going, a complete mess, but fantastic.

Blondes

A blonde was on holiday and driving thru Darwin…
She desperately wanted to take home a pair of genuine crocodile shoes but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking. After becoming very frustrated with the “no haggle on prices” attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the blonde shouted, “Well then, maybe I’ll just go out and catch my own crocodile, so I can get a pair of shoes for free”.

The shopkeeper said with a sly, knowing smile, “Little lady, just go and give it a try”! Continue reading “Blondes”

The Green thing (this is so true)

In the queue at the supermarket, the cashier told the older woman that she should
bring her own shopping bag because plastic bags weren’t good for the environment.
The woman apologized to him and explained,
“We didn’t have the green thing back in my day.”

The clerk responded, “That’s our problem today.
The former generation did not care enough to save our environment, they were useless at recycling”

He was right, that generation didn’t have the green thing in its day.
Back then, they returned their milk bottles,
pop bottles and beer bottles to the shop.
The shop sent them back to the plant to be washed
and sterilized and refilled,
so it could use the same bottles over and over.
So they really were recycled. (And you got money back on returned bottles) Continue reading “The Green thing (this is so true)”

What a day out, but where were we?

We started off in the Kent countryside (your clue) saw a man fishing through the trees then a serpent coming out of the trees. We visited Australia and saw Ayres Rock, Africa, South America, North America (note the natives) Spotted a health and safety cactus (see the corks) and then we cae across Zeus with Europa on his back (Zeus is the white bull).

So where were we

RIP uncle Hubert

Today I received a letter, yes a letter not an email so it must be real, from the Agricultural Bank of China informing me that my uncle Hubert has died. Now I must admit I have never met uncle Hubert, but he must be one fantastic guy as he has left me his money, all U$9.35 million.

As it turns out (really) I am having lunch on Wednesday with the compliance manager of the Agricultural Bank of China, so I have asked him if could intervene and get me my money ASAP so that we can have a very good lunch.

I have sent my friend a copy of the letter and he has responded that it is possible the letter may be fake. Now I know emails are fake, but this was a letter with a stamp and posted here in the UK, so therefore it must be real. If the money does not come then I shall of course take legal action to get hold of dear Hubert’s money.

Now to all of you Charioteers out there, providing you sign a “non disclosure” letter so as not to release my name to the press then once the money is in my account I shall treat you all to celebration for a whole week at Disney Land/world in Florida. But please remember if necessary I will take out a super injunction to protect my anonymity.

Money, money money in a rich mans world.

Yippeee I am wealthy.
