I have to say that I see no point, when someone is this old and apparently near the end of their days, of doing other than making their end comfortable. We all have to go sometime. He’s had a great life and will be remembered for many years to come.
I suspect this is a TITO like situation. They kept him going for years on life support and never declared when he died so that civil war would not break out (As it did)
I think they are frightened of violence in SA. It is fortunate that he has lasted as long as he has. Had he died ten/twenty years ago it would have been a very different matter.
