April 2nd – World Autism Awareness Day

More a simple reminder and announcement than anything to add to my recent post on our official opening and balloon release last week.

It is of course school holidays here (4 terms per year) teachers, staff and children all having a 10 day break so other than individual reminders and the wearing of badges and ribbons a quiet week.

  1. I find it very curious that any of these ‘World Days for whatever’ never seem to get advertised in the USA.
I sometimes think that they don’t actually think that they too belong to this world.

  2. Hello Mrs. O. It’s here, just hard to be heard amidst all the other clatter. “It’s all about awareness” as Soutie often quotes.

The US organization is called Autism Speaks, it does a lot, not just this month but all year.

Sponsors dedicate a lot of events each year to the organization including a NASCAR race at Dover Downs (Delaware), The Autism Speaks 400 (June 2 this year) I’m sure Soutie will be watching if he can.

Check out “light it up blue” in the link, some great images there.

  3. Morning Mrs O & LW

I put some ‘light it up blue’ pictures on the Chariot this time last year. I’ve re-posted it for quick and easy reference
