JM and TR, I’ve just watched the first of the Blandings Castle episodes.  Dreadful!  Why must the BBC do this to perfectly good books?  Apart from the names of the characters, it bore little resemblance to the original “Pig Hoooey”, which was funny.  This just made me feel embarrassed.

  3. We’ll probably see this in about five years, by which time it will be considered a ‘modernisation’.

  4. The crit in the DT was written by a Ben Lawrence who obviously had not read the original. Where he got the idea that the original dialogue remained intact is beyond me. Generally commenters liked the performance of the sow who played Empress of Blandings, but that was about all.

  6. Dreadful overacting, I turned off after 10 minutes. Shame considering the talent on view.
