When you’ve submitted five answers, you have a poem!
Not sure I follow you, Janus. I hope you’re not expecting a sort of “mittens on kittens” and “brown paper packages tied up with string” pome.
Sheona, I drove back from Harare to Cape Town on Tuesday and Wednesday, a trip of 2,500 km plus one fairly lengthy border crossing. 30 hours of driving in all. One of the best ways I found to keep myself awake, apart from copious amounts of Red Bull, was to sing show songs to myself. This time 24 hours ago I was singing ‘Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…’
I’m sorry to hear it, Sipu, and hope you have now recovered. I prefer Classic FM or our own choice of CDs.

You have not heard me sing!
As I drive around town I’m a thinkin
of verses for this competition
but tomorrow I can’t
I’ll be at St George’s park
watchin the Proteas give the Kiwis a whippin
Talking about peanuts look what I was chewing on prior to opening your page 🙂
They’re tiny packets, only 50g each but I’ve still got a few left!

Soutie, that looks suspiciously like a pome to me. And it’s clearly ‘on topic’ too!
As usual, Soutie, our antipodean cousins do it better. 🙂

Ja well, I will of course have plenty of time while happily watching the cricket over the next couple of days. If I owned an ipad / pcnotebook / smartphone or other suitable device I would have taken it with me to record my pearls of prose but I haven’t so I can’t, perhaps I can find my father’s old dictaphone!
Yes, yes, happiness is red leather and round. 🙂
