…for the longest
Lithuania, who hold the world record with 18 successive wins between May 2006 and April 2010! Bet you didn’t know that š * However, the Moufflons – the Cyprus national team – are closing in, undefeated for 16 matches (they beat Austria 20 – 54 yesterday) and with a strong squad. Rugby in Cyprus, (outside the Sovereign Base Areas,) got its start in 2003 when the Paphos Tigers Rugby club was formed by returned Cypriot South Africans. The game remains heavily influenced by SA-Cypriots to this day, thought there are now ‘natives’ playing the game and in the National Team squad. A nice piece telling the story is here if anyone is interested…
*I didn’t, until I read that piece today…
Hi Bravo,
I did know it as I was sure that we were going to be the team on the wrong end of the new record until the Aussies stopped the All Blacks at 16.
Thanks for the link. It really is a feel good piece at a time when we all need a few of those. A bit of a bristle at ‘British Royal Air Force’ but one must forgive foreigners for not knowing that it is the RAF. just like the Open and postage stamps without a country named on them.
Good luck to the Moufflons. If they progress at their current rate, I confidently expect to live long enough to watch Scotland lose to them, It’s what we do..
Howzit Bravo.
The ‘tier 1’ record is of course 17, jointly held by The Boks and All Blacks.

If any of the Cyprus team have aspirations to greater things, they can play for England. That’ll teach ’em.
Just noticed a typo in the piece – it should read, ‘there are now ‘natives’…
