I hadn’t intended to enter.
I’ve been up to my ears summer-through.
Then I saw there were only four entries,
Ara, Pseu and both Januses too.
And I still didn’t think I should enter,
Believing I’d too little time
Then I spotted the EDST deadline,
And thought ‘Let’s get ready to rhyme!’
So, this is what I did last summer
From June to today’s last hooray.
Though I made the odd trip to the office,
Every day was, for me, holiday.
There was sport in abundance to follow,
And Her Majesty’s Jubilee bash.
So much pride to be had in my country
And so many mem’ries to cache.
1st June brought us Jubilee weekend,
When the Queen and her Phil got quite wet.
Though the Beeb were completely useless,
Still a fleet I will never forget.
Then it only just went and got better,
With a day off to mark the Queen’s bash.
Who’d have thought that the Jock rugby heroes
Would have given the Aussies a thrash?
Moving on, countdown to Olympics
With torches and passion and pride.
Most of us seemed to have got it
I accept that some chose to deride.
Who cares? I still think it was worth it,
And will be whate’er the Fates bring.
A spirit, a hope and exemplar
That my country is not a ‘bad thing’.
And, on this last day of our summer,
My holiday still chooses to run.
Laura Robson serving to glory,
And ODI England at 1.
Perhaps to get back to the top
Why not beg Kevin Pietersen
to leave his phone back at the shop
perhaps then you might make number 1
By the way….
I wanted to mention that that I watched the C***** the other night (Ooops, just remembered, TR has requested that we don’t use the ‘C’ word)
Anyhow, the cameras panned to whom I assume was the owner, was it MacRamanov? Is he a Whisky baron from a long line of Scots ancestors or as I suspect a Johnny come lately?
Haw, Soutie.
Were you at the game caller?
‘We’ are back at Number 1, ODI -wise. Walk in the park, in my opinion. You won the toss and chose to bat. Personally, I think Smith should resign.
In seriousness, are they sharing in SA what KP is alleged to have called Strauss in those alleged tweets? The formal version of Soutie is claimed.
Evening JM
What do you mean by ‘are they sharing’?
Is who sharing? Most of our printed sports columns are from Mail or DT columnists plus of course all the satellite TV channels and then are own correspondents delighting in the angst the the ECB now find themselves in.
By the way, did you read my copy of the ‘spoof’ report on Janus’ ‘plastic Brits’ post .
“did you see that leave in the second innings” Classic 🙂
Evening JM,
Gutted the jambos failed to beat Liverpool. I was so wanting you to have a bash at the monster burger of Oban. Some other time, perhaps. Not long until the transfer window closes and I’m hoping we can take Templeton off your hands.
Soutie, Good man for not using the c word. 🙂
