Spirit in the Sky

It was my mates birthday today….

The 4th bar we went into happened to have Karaoke

I can’t leave without singing Spirit in the Sky, which is why I’m on here now (late)

It’s such an easy song, so, cherished colleagues, a bit of advice from me, some of you probably go to bars / restaurants / clubs /parties where there’s a karaoke artist and claim that you cant sing, YOU CAN! Request this one, it’s slow, easy to sing to and if you make a mistake the crowd are all singing along and help you out, trust me.

I’m not too bad at any Bryan Adams but think that I’m particularity good at Unchained Melody. Whatever, I did Spirit in the Sky tonight and wanted to share 😉

  1. Well played, Soutie. I do a bit of chanting myself from time to time. My karaoke playlist includes the usual suspects. I do think it’s a bit of a laugh to branch out now and again and try something different. A few weeks back I had a stab at Showaddywaddy’s Under the Moon of love. Went down not bad.

    ♫♪♫ Let’s go for a little walk…

    Morning TR

Ahhhh! nice one, haven’t heard that one in ages 🙂

  3. Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for the rest of the world my first (and last!) attempt at karaoke singing was videoed….

    … Never, ever again! 🙂

    Great songs.

  4. Hello Boa

What a distardly deed, there are of course rules about criticising participants and photos are okay but videos never!

Far better for performances to be left to ones (and others) alcohol filled memory banks.

I’m sure tho that your revenge was sweet 🙂

  5. Hello there again Soutie,

As you are in an amusing (ouch) mood at the moment I must tell you the story of a few months back. Me and my mate were on a pub crawl and ended up in a karaoke bar, as you do. We were a wee bit worse for wear. This is not a good thing. In true experimental fashion my mate sang Uprising. By the way it was going no one in the pub had heard of it. This was brilliant! It can be sore when someone you have “discovered” becomes popular. Mind you, the lack of appreciation could have been because he murdered the song.

My mates aren’t keen on the Karaoke business, I’m thinking of getting them up on stage and perhaps starting with an instrumental, Tubular Bells perhaps, whadda you think?

  7. Performing Karaoke to an instrumental reminds me of a friend of mine who was given a Christmas present by the spotty youth who was dating his daughter. My friend, intensely protective of his daughter and who had shown little attempt to express anything other than disdain for her companion, received the beautifully wrapped oblong box with a grudging thank you. But when he opened it, he found it to be empty. Looking completely non-plussed, he turned to the boy who helpfully explained that it was an air guitar.
