Good show, OZ. I shall be watching the Thames Pageant tomorrow via the BBC; not quite the Spithead Review marking the Queen’s Coronation in 1953, but still, it should be quite spectacular.
The flag is flying in California.
Good for you, Christopher. 🙂
Gosh! Did we once have so many ships to spare? Thank you so much Messrs Cameron and Clegg, Blair and Brown and all their predecessors, not forgetting generations of superannuated bean-counters and box-tickers at the MOD.
T’was ever thus. I well remember being in Kiribati (the former Gilbert and Ellice Islands) twenty years ago and visiting the sites of the WWII Japanese shore batteries, the guns of which still bore the seal of Vickers of Barrrow.
Twas ever thus indeed. At the end of the French Revolutionary Wars the civil service of the day ran the Army and Navy into the ground. Then, unlike now, they managed to resurrect the forces when Boney and Co. appeared on the scene. Then, and now I think there is a good case for many civil servants to be tried for treason.
Ara – I too will be watching the river pageant with bubbly in hand but from the comfort of an armchair. Friends of mine, who live by Lambeth Bridge, will be watching from the embankment, having been issued with security wristlets. Lucky people. Your picture of the ships is great – England in her majesty.
A very good morning to all you jubilee-ers.
I do hope that the weather plays ball (unlike the England rugby team who are here for a 3 test series starting this weekend ;))
It’s a very convenient 3pm start for me, I’ll be in front of the telly keeping an eye out for our very own Rhodesian royal watcher and of course the girl guide grandfather 🙂
Soutie, at the moment the weather is not playing ball. Heavy rain last night, continuing this morning. There is a street party planned here. Can only hope it clears up, or at least stops raining.
Wet, wet, wet here in Oxfordshire. The sun did nearly come out for a little while yesterday afternoon.
Beautiful day here, 70 ish and sunny at 9:00 am, Couldn’t find a union flag in the locker (lost in a mult-icountry move?) so flew the Dragon today.
It went brilliantly, apart from the weather; a credit to the organisers.
Just noticed the banner!
Thank you, Boadicea.
I’ll second that.
Cheers, Boadicea.

You’re welcome! Took me a bit of time to get to it!
The flags are flying over The Cave.
