Now come on Daily Telegraph I accept spelling mistakes etc, but not putting in the clue for 28 across is not playing the game.
I think the answer is Earnest going on the letters I have but without a clue I am not sure.

OK Rick – you write the clue or invite all Charioteers to do the same!
Morning Rick
Big Dave hasn’t mentioned anything yet!
My daily only publishes them about a month in arrears, thanks for the warning 😉
The gauntlet has been cast down, who will write the best clue?
28 Across. Sounds like someone is in for a handbagging?
28 across. A second makes Bevin determined.
I see that Big Dave has not only identified the error but also published the correct clue!

Thanks for pointing out Big Dave’s blog to me Soutie. I am sure I will learn from it. Believe it or not, I am making progress with my crosswords, though there are some that still leave me baffled even when I know the answer. I am still using DT book collections that have answers at the back rather than newspapers.
Soutie, seems my guess is right then. Ta
Yes, Rick, it is.
It’s a bilbergian plot so that you don’t notice you no longer have water coming out of the taps.
Sincerely place the listener before a bird house. 🙂
Good one, Furry!
For those of a certain age, gender and taste in comic.
‘Being serious. Dare one say that this is a mix-up with the Mekon’s followers?’
Digby would be proud.
I used to have the same tee shirt as Michael Palin!

Serious sneer at drunk.
Bilbers, you didn’t like my #5 then? 😦
Howzit Sipu
It’s a brilliant blog, I’ve only ever used if the children are ‘helping’ me with the crossword and of course in those cases we have to finish it.
He doesn’t just sommer give you the answer but expands the clue.
If you’re not sure what crossword number you’re doing simply google one of the clues (in full) Big Dave’s blog comes up with the full puzzle.
Very neat 🙂
It’s excellent, Janus. 🙂 I didn’t see it at first glance.
Soutie #17. Sadly it does not appear as if any of the puzzles are included from my book. Well I have searched for about 3 or 4. Bigdave does find similarly worded clues such as ‘Some peers are dithery, are erratic’., but not the clue from my puzzle, ‘Some peers are dithery in revolt’.
I wonder how often clues such as that are repeated over the years.
I suspect the puzzles from my book, ‘Cryptic Crossword Book 65, 2010’, were gleaned from earlier newspapers.
Bilbers, thank you (blushy thingy)
