It may not last long, especially as the weather will be cold and there’s a fair wind, but the cherry blossom is looking wonderful. This evening as the sun went down it looked beautiful against the yew hedge, with the sun shining through it.
I grew up about 80 miles north of here and the cherry blossom in our garden used always to be out for my brother’s birthday in early May… are we really a few weeks ahead these days?

What a stunning photograph!
I think it’s all out of kilter this year. We have bluebelles already.
PS. Next door is a huge cherry and it looked wonderful two weeks ago. All the blossom has gone now.
So delicate and beautiful. Wonderful photo, Nym.
Quite pleasing that iit came out! The sun was in my eyesa nd I had to shield it from the lens!
Hiya Pseu. The pale colour reminds me of the almond blossom which flowers here in February and March. I’ve a very similar photograph to yours somewhere on this computerable thingey and I’ll try to locate it for you. Our cherry blossom is much, much darker.
OZ
The mirabelle plum blossom is out here – and lots of it along the river bank, maybe 2 weeks before the cherry.
OZ thia is an ornamental flowering cherry, which does not produce fruit…
photo please, Janus 🙂
Nice picture. Here are a few of the cherry trees on the Potomac in Washington DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is normally at the end of March/beginning of April. There are a huge number of trees and when they are all in bloom it is a magnificent sight.
Oh, thank you. So much blossom. And what a dramatic graphite sky!
