February Competitions – Results

Well, I trust you are all enjoying St. David’s Day.  I am, especially after Saturdays match.

Lets start with  the Photo’s, some good one’s here.  Being a boaty type  I particularly liked Araminta’s varnished craft, spoiled only by the mooring line.  But  I have long admired the craftsmanship of the Zimbabwe ruins as shown in Sipu’s photo  they have a kind of alien order with their  flowing curves that is never seen in the more formal architectures.  So, well done Sipu the prize yours, and over to you for the next contest.

Yes, I will give the Poetry award to Soutie for his Haka, not only did it rhyme but it was good too.  Well done Soutie and set one that Janus can understand next time.

What a shock, nothing all month and then two gems for the short story.   I liked them  both.   Ara’s was as dark and tangled a web as only reality can be,  and saw the journey as a voyage through several troubled lives.  Pseu’s tale was strictly that of a journey, the trials and tribulations  of  preparations and separations.  Incomplete?  Maybe, but journey’s do  end when the destination is reached and story’s do not.  I liked it much.  Well done Pseudonym a prize for you, but maybe, like Laura a little more planning would be time well spent.

  1. Unlike the game on Saturday, the referee of the Photo Comp was spot on. Well done Sipu. Iechyd da!

  2. Hi LW, thank you very much for that. I am honoured. I will think of new topic within the next day or so.

I take it though that you missed my short story entry though it was posted on time.(Or maybe you did not!!!) Silly me, I wrote it as a comment #9 on your Creative Writing Post instead of as a separate post. In my defence it was late and I was anxious to meet your deadline since there were so few entries. Besides, I had had a little drink about an hour earlier which had gone right too my head. It took me a whole hour to write though you would not have thought anybody could have spent that much time copying and pasting his own text, but there you go. Actually I thought that was a rather clever technique of ensuring I met the conditions of the competition. Just for the record, I will post it again separately.

  3. Well done Sipu, Soutie and Pseu – and also LW for setting and judging the competitions 🙂

I am sorry that you will all have to wait until I can get Bearsy to show me how to display the gravatars, since he does not have administration rights on this site since the changeover.

I will be writing a post on this at a later date… but I have been rather poorly since returning from the UK, now diagnosed as bronchitis, and have had a number of other matters on my mind: the first Ozzie visit of no 2 daughter and the wedding of daughter no 1 (today).

Hopefully, the anti-biotic and other medication will kick in soon and I’ll be able to contribute more to the site… 🙂

  4. Poor you Boadicea. Get well soon (she instructed)

I see I have won the prize… even though mine was an incomplete tale! Thank you!!

I shall put on my thinking cap and set the next soonish

  5. Sipu: Humblest apologies, I did not check the Comp. announcement post for entries, so I did miss it. I do like it and had I spotted it there I can say with some authority that you would certainly have been in the top three.

  6. Low Wattage :

I can say with some authority that you would certainly have been in the top three.

Thank you LW, I feel totally vindicated. The midnight (local time) oil, was well worth the burning. 🙂
