Well not exactly. I was there yesterday but then I moved out to the big city, well Great Missenden is a big place compared with the creek.
Today is the day for the comps, it’s the last day and there are only a few HOURS left.
A few observations
Apart from a goodly number from Janus which do not meet our rigorous standards of rhyme, I see only one entry for the pomes right Soutie?
Short stories are also very short this month, so far entries consist of a promise by Araminta.
Photos are a better represented but there is still time to enter before “Last orders please.”
Judging tomorrow early GMT.
Nice weather here.
Oh you mean all that abab, xaxa stuff! Ne’er mind.
My office used to be on St. Catharine’s Dock just behind that big hotel on the left.of your piccie. Did you take it from the deck of HMS Belfast?
OZ
Janus: abab nothing near as hard as sonnetting (sp?).
OZ: Could not get on HMS Belfast, the gangway was under repair. Took it from the top of the City Cruise boat.
Ah, Great Missenden. Nothing else to say really except that I once went to a sales training course at the conference centre there, Missenden Abbey. Well, it used to be an abbey but was stolen by the nasty Protestants from the noble and saintly Catholics by order of Bluff King Hal and virtually destroyed. The ruins were subsequently incorporated into a mansion. The things you learn while riding a chariot.
It would appear that you are quite correct, I think that in future I’ll hold back my masterpieces ’till the final day so as not to discourage works by other aspiring rhymers 😉
Great Missenden is where the Black Horse pub is, which used to be the HQ of our balloon club. Then the pub changed hands and the new owners were not keen on ballooning. Their loss, I suspect. I went to Missenden Abbey once for an interview, Sipu.
Enjoy your stay in Bucks, LW. Have you visited old Amersham yet?
Sipu: Could form the basis for a good short story, “The Journey” perhaps? Hint, hint.
Watched the Daytona 500 (the one which started on Sunday and finished Tuesday!)
Just when you thought that the final race of last season with Smoke’s incredible victory would never be surpassed they gave us this.
Absolutely incredible
Soutie: I think you have scared them all away.
Sheona: Yes, but not this trip, we did get to Marlow for lunch today.
LW, “Janus: abab nothing near as hard as sonnetting (sp?).”
It’s a muse thing. Doesn’t do rules or regs at all – just holds forth.
Soutie: Missed it all, but I did watch Wales beat England at Twickenham on Saturday.
Janus: It has been noticed.
Give me a couple of hours, LW! It’s not one of my best, but I will finish it!
Should we be scared, Ms Mcgonagall?

Wakey wakey LW
I’m waiting for that elephant to appear at the top of the sidebar 🙂
Soutie, it’s a shoe-in obviously. The polymetric judge has suddenly got rigorous about rhymes!
