Jardine v Jardine!

An early phone call from the UK today necessitates a very quick trip to the UK.

I am the only surviving witness in a Chancery case that has dragged on for years.

Now I’m needed Monday morning in court!, Yeah thanks, a real lot of notice.  Fastest purchased ticket in the West!  Just to let you know I will be running round like a blue arsed fly for the whole month sorting out my own affairs whilst I am there and will not be here very much.

Just thought I’d let you know before you thought I’d flounced.

In haste…..

  1. Have I heard that the UK is expecting ‘Siberian weather’? What a pity that the court wasn’t somewhere more exotic, Bahamas perhaps 😉

    Good luck.

  2. Jazz,

“Jarndyce and Jarndyce is a fictional court case in Chancery in the novel Bleak House by Charles Dickens.
The case concerns the fate of a large inheritance. It has dragged on for many generations prior to the action of the novel, so that, by the time it is resolved late in the narrative, legal costs have devoured the entire estate. The case is thus a byword for an interminable legal proceeding. For example, Lord Denning MR, referring to Midland Bank v Green, said “The Green Saga rivals in time and money the story of Jarndyce and Jarndyce.” Dickens used it to attack the chancery court system as being near totally worthless, as any “honourable man among its [Chancery’s] practitioners” says, “Suffer any wrong that can be done you rather than come here!””

  3. I hope you have a good trip, Christina, and look forward to hearing about it in your own inimitable style.

  4. So, not much change in a century or so, then? Best of luck, Christina – and I imagine a flounce by you would be a classic of the genre 😀

  5. Hee hee Christina! Pack your mink-lined knickers and a hot water bottle as I do not suppose the weather in Blighty will improve your magnificent disposition. Oh, and choose your cases more carefully in future, if I may be so bold. The last time I was a Crown witness the trial was held on a South Pacific island, which had the benefit of getting me out of a dark, wet European November, with all expenses paid by the Aussie taxpayer.

Yes I was aware of the tale but got the spelling wrong. From personal experience I can confirm Dickens opinion of the court system. Time something was done about it.

  7. Rick, don’t you mean ‘warn’ rather than ‘inform’? They’ll definitely regret it. 🙂

  8. Have a great flight – and I, too, look forward to your ‘tale’ when you get back.

It’s freezing here – I’ve bought a new coat, which I’ll probably never wear in Oz, and even splashed out on gloves, something I haven’t owned for over 25 years…

    🙂

  9. Have a safe and uneventful trip Mrs. O. Don’t suppose you will be at Stonehenge on March 8 but if you are I’ll be the tall guy wearing the Ravens jacket. 🙂

  10. Wicked swine the lot of you.
I’m treating the court to the Arctic fox coat and matching Dr Zhivago hat! (Courtesy of ex #2!)
I shall take no prisoners and let the fucker on the bench know I am unimpressed with only two working days notice to get there.
The jungle drums have gone all over S Wales and there is already a party party amassing in Swansea!
    Sod the jet lag!
Must go , in haste, all dogs coming to see me off as they do, must find their papers.
    Mwa mwa!

By the way sorry about the spelling, total brain fart!

  11. CO, good evening

    Safe out and safe home.

I hear that Sleekit Salmond is getting the builders in this weekend for emergency repairs to the Wall on our side in case you were minded to maraud North while you are here.

Are you going to be wearing the stilettos in Court as well as the fur? I just can not get that Falls Road incident out of my mind and dream of the day when we will learn the full tale.

    I’m fantasising as I type.

  13. Safe journey, Tina.

I hope you are able to claim expenses.

Yes, it is very cold here, and snow is forecast almost everywhere tomorrow night. I would advise thermal underwear, as well as furs and stilettos!
