Just to let you know that there was a TV programme on Channel 4 this evening about the riots in England in the summer. So they were definitely not just Australian propaganda. I didn’t watch it, since I wanted to watch “The Young Victoria” instead.
I want to wish you and Boadicea, setter of fiendishly difficult quizzes, as well as all Cherished Colleagues, even in Edinburgh, a very happy Christmas and a good New Year.
Thank you, Sheona, and the same to you and yours. Have an exceedingly good Christmas, with or without the fresh sage. 🙂
Seasonal felicitations, Sheona. 😀
Yoo hoo, Sheona. Happy Crimbo.
OZ
Merry Christmas to you and yours Sheona 🙂
Lang may your lum reek – even if the phrase originated in Embra! 🙂
Nice one Sheona,
May ye live as lang as ye want, but ne’er want as lang as ye live.
Merry Xmas and the best of New Years to you and yours. 🙂
Happy Christmas, Sheona.
Oh Janus, would they really use such an expression in Morningside?
Haw therr, Sheona. ‘Orra best’ as they say in your unco, orra Weegie-speak.
Could one just remind one that one of Embra’s many nicknames is ‘Auld Reekie’. It follows that we are familiar with the ‘lum’ blessing, even in Morningside.
Did you know that there is a Morningside in Brisbane, by the way? When we were in Queensland this summer, I tried to persuade Mrs M to take a trip there just to see if we would have had our tea and what the residents kept their coal in.
Talking of nicknames for Embra, we’re not really doing the ‘Athens of the North’ one at the moment, for fairly obvious reasons.
Best wishes to you and yours for Christmas.
Isn’t it nice to find out what really caused those riots? Trainers! The proof has just been delivered in the USofA!

And this is the black culture we’re meant to respect?
Sheona, the difference between ‘your’ US riots and ‘ours’ is that most of the Yanks seemed to know what they were there for.
