The deadline is here, so, as Gregg Wallace says “STOP COOKING NOW!”
It is a shame there were not a few more pictures, but the ones that are there are varied and show some great imagination. I am surprised no-one took a picture of the fairy on the Christmas Tree. Yes, I know the joke about Grumpy Santa and his striking elves!
Soutie: I can imagine your kids frustration at the delay. I understand, via the National Geographic Channel, the the plane pranged because of ice in the fuel. Still no comfort to you I guess, but at least the pilot got it down, more or less in one piece.
Pseu and Ara: Some very good lepidopteran studies. Both of these photos are very interesting.
LW: Not quite so good technically but what a great picture of a bald eagle!
Bravo: I have some rugby pictures like this, grainy and black and white. The only difference is that I was not attempting to fly, but, as a prop, launching my lock into the air in the line-out (before lifting was legal as well as after it was). However, I do suspect that your flight time was somewhat limited 🙂
OZ: I am sure if I was that chicken, and had that beer-can rammed like that, I would be flying too. However, I suspect that particular chicken’s aerodynamic days are behind it! 🙂
Having given the matter some thought, I think that the photo that shows best the beauty of flight is that bald eagle by Low Wattage, even though the photo is slightly blurred. So, congratulations to LW for the second time in a month and, over to you!

Thanks for running the competition, FEEG.
I took my camera with me – but was always too slow on the ‘snap’ button!
Well done LW!
That was swiftly judged, FEEG.
Good decision, congratulations to LW.
Did I miss the deadline? Not that I was expecting to win, but an honourable mention was surely merited? 😉
Thanks for the mention FEEG, delighted that my entry wasn’t ignored, I’m going to consider myself a runner up.
Deadlines and Capetonians just don’t go together, they are almost as bad a Durbanites 🙂
You are quite right Soutie, though I am slightly miffed to hear the Durbanites are worse than we are.
You suspect correctly, FEEG and jolly tasty it was too.
Well snapped, LW.
OZ
Thank you FEEG. I thought the “soft focus” gave the photo a more artistic appeal (he extemporized wildly).
I did say I took it through the window, I did not mention that the window was not at it’s pristine best that day, I will talk strongly to the help.
I will also give some thought to the next (20th) comp.
Ooooerr, Missus!
Sipu: I did post a reply to you in the comments, but it seems to have disappeared. I did actually mention in a previous comment that the deadline was 12:00 midday. What a shame. If only your photo had the gin as well, it might have won 🙂
