In a moment of weakness I let slip my liking for a Shaky song. To redeem my reputation I present you with the loudest song ever on the Chariot.
For heavy metal fans
Machine Head’s new LP Unto the Locust is, by common consent in the metal fraternity, the album of the year. On Monday a friend and I went to the SECC to see the band in action. We were not disappointed. Admittedly, the screaming vocals can grate after awhile but you can’t deny they deliver a magnificent wall of guitars sound.
As crowds go this was the roughest I’d ever been in. There was too big a crush at the front so the best place to be was in the pit. From song to song we were thrown from one side of the hall to the other. This made it an ideal situation for taking photos at different points in the venue. However, while being churned I lost my friend three songs in and found him at a pre-determined spot after the gig.
Surviving in this environment takes skill and tolerance and I am the epitome of tolerance, int ah? The first important thing is making sure you can breathe. Throwing your head back to suck in air from overhead is a useful manoeuvre. Either that or you will suffocate from the heaps of sweating, matted hair circling you. Of course, the air is toxic but poisonous air is better than no air.
An understanding of Parkour practises can help. Treating the heaving mass of inhumanity as obstacles, Parkour adherents can leap from body to body in a game of human Parkour that is a lot less demanding on the joints. The tattooed skin and leather foundation has more give in it than concrete.

Hello TR
I was enjoying that until some long haired guy jumped in front of the camera and started shouting at me (48 sec.) So I switched him off!
Do they do instrumentals ❓
Oh, and another thing…
Thanks for posting this, we very nearly had a pictureless home page, I do like to see the odd picture breaking up the text on the home page, even if it is ‘only’ a YouTube clip.
Well done 😉
got the album a couple of weeks ago, good isn’t it. where did you see them?
I bet there were signs up round the auditorium telling you to turn off your mobile phone, as if you could hear it any way.
I got Pain of Salvations latest, not too noisy but very good.
It’s not a problem and I’m pleased you enjoyed the evening. Yes, it may well be loud, JW but my sub woofers, or whatever, haven’t recovered from the last time I played one of your clips so I remain in blissful ignorance. Frankly, it sounded rather tame. 😉
Hello there, Soutie
Look beyond the vocals and listen to the riffs and solos- pulsating stuff. At the extreme end of heavy metal it is hard to find a good singer. I mean these guys are not trained to hum a melodious tone; they just burn their fingers up and down the fret board. I’m sure Boadicea won’t mind one more Machine Head song to go and here’s a tune you might know.

That would be the SECC in Glasgow, Rick. Unlike the Romans, Machine Head bravely ventured North of Hadrian’s Wall. For the last couple of days their new album and The Blackening are all that I’ve played in my car. The concert opener was I Am Hell and I’m sure you can imagine it was a spine tingling experience.
Not familiar with any of Pain of Salvation’s work. Will check them out on your recco. Of other heavy Swedish bands I like Opeth,
HELLO ARA (sorry for shouting)
The previous evening (Sunday) at the same venue my wife and friends saw Duran Duran. Be thankful I wasn’t there. Their songs are ear bashers.
Re-re-re-fle-fle-fle-flex.
Royal, daughter saw them on Saturday in Wembley for the umpteenth time.
Also look up Dead Soul Tribe and Devon Graves.
Oh, how about Friday I’m in love…

but not with you 🙂
Hee hee, JW. You can shout all you like, but I can’t hear you any more! 🙂
Only joshiin’, my speakers and sub whatsits are fine. 🙂 I’m prone to exaggeration.
I agree. I’m not listening, not listening any more 🙂
Will do, Rick.
It’s not Friday yet, Bleuebelle (that is a killer to spell, by the way. Any chance of dropping one or more of those e’s?) so still time to change your mind. 🙂
No more shouting, Ara, only whispering
Not dropping anything, dear. Not for you, anyway… 🙂
Oh well, somes you win… 🙂
🙂
