What part of Road Closed do you not understand

A major road where we live was closed on Monday to replace a bridge over the railway, the closure has been advertised for the last 2 months and residents have known about it for over a year, the closure will last about a year and is causing tremendous problems as traffic tries to find alternative ways round the few crossing over the railway.

As you approach the closed road from a roundabout there is a large (15 by 10ft) illuminated and flashing sign saying ROAD CLOSED, as you enter the road there are large red signs that you have to steer round saying ROAD CLOSED, all approaches to the roundabout are signed in blue and yellow stating ROAD CLOSED FOLLOW DIVERSION.

Yet today I drove towards the closure as I had to visit the osteopath to sort my back out (again) I sat in the car for a no more than 3 minutes and 4 cars and one lorry drove towards the closed road and had to reverse out, I knocked on the osteopaths door laughing and he said “watch” in the space of 5 minutes a further 6 vehicles approached the closed road with one car trying to cross the bridge on the pavement, the pavement being left for pedestrians and cyclists as removal of the crossing sends cars round a 3 mile diversion.

Looking at the cars all seemed to be blindly following their stanavs or on their mobile phones. Obviously Satnav knows better than great big flashing signs saying ROAD CLOSED.

And they let these people breed, there is no hope for the future generation.

I am perfect, well I think so and I am never wrong so it must be true.

  1. I agree, there isn’t.
It rather amuses me, 7 billion and all that hoohaa.
Not for long I suspect. I rather reckon that humanity, as we know it, has peaked, reached its climactic, I think that there is an ‘Armageddon’ coming, not in the Hollywood style but softly softly.
Degradation of environment, shortage of food and clean water, complete lack of common sense, inability of populations to possess useful survival skills, inability to even feed and clothe themselves.
All we need are a few more natural and economic disasters to kick start the process and watch the shit hit the fan.
I’m sure some will survive but exactly who and where and in what form is a complete unknown.

I rather think humanity over aeons will divide into two species, I think that it is already happening, engendered by social policies at the moment and too much do goodism. But all in far fewer numbers.

After all its not like it hasn’t happened here before. There are two well documented mass extinctions, not only the Carboniferous dinosaur one but an earlier Permian one where far more reptilian style creatures were eradicated, interestingly the crocodiles and their mutated descendants survived both but not in sufficient numbers to stop the rise of the dinosaurs or humanity !
You just wait till the Jack Russells take over! Mine have far more sense than most of the humans I know.

In that case ‘armageddon’ out of here :-), but it is odd that a lot of the sci-fi, futuristic pap coming out of Hollywood has a near human sub-species living down the drains.

  3. CoB I tend to agree with your thoughts. I am one of those that wonders if the so called cure for malaria recently announced is a good thing. If it means more Africans will survive and live in more poverty or war torn states or just survive to starve to death then what is the point. I voiced this and was told that I am looking at it all wrong or I am racist.

  4. RR, me too same thoughts, what with increased desertification of the sahara it can support less, not more people.
Which is exactly why the horn of Africa and the Sudan have been war riven for the odd decade or two. Far better to die as an infant than have constant civil war.

OZ living down the drains? I thought they were already on the streets, living in council houses and collecting our/your/their money! (Delete as applicable)
