For metal fans
Welcome. Quite a bigger turn out than I expected. Thanks for coming. Hold on. Quiet please at the back, thank you.
Next week sees the release of Megadeth’s thirteenth studio album cunningly titled, Th1rt3en. The band leader Dave Mustaine was born on the 13th of September and started playing the guitar when he was thirteen.
Dave has had a colourful life. Brought up in a Jehovah’s Witness family, he rebelled to become a rock musician. One of the original members of Metallica, he was thrown out the band for being too wild! He formed Megadeth that became one of the most successful heavy metal bands of all-time. Along the way there was alcoholism and heroin addiction. But hey, this is rock n’ roll. Dave is now, believe it or not, a Christian. It’s good to have him back into the fold.
Regularly voted one of the best HM guitarists in polls, Dave’s singing voice has been described as “two cats’ fighting”. Personally, I think he sounds like Dick Dastardly. Though, as a songwriter he proves that the devil doesn’t have all the best tunes.
good band, I have never seen them live but have 10 of their albums in my collection. No doubt daughter has this one on order as she is a big fan and seen them a number of times.
Whoa! Stop press.
Thanks Rick, thought I might have been Shot Down in Flames (© AC/DC) with this one. Sadly, I’ve never seen them live. Hoping that they tour The UK with their new album.
You should read Mustaine’s autobiography. A warts (© Lemmy) and all tour-de-force.
Yikes.
Once I’d turned my speakers down, taken paracetamol, and had a think, I’m still not sure this is quite my “thing”, but I’m going to have another try in the morning.
I may learn to love it, JW, stranger things have happened. 😦
Ara, this is best taken with Strongbow Super cider. Get a few cans of them down you. 🙂
Not sure – it’s a bit early in the morning! But certainly better than some ‘metal’.
A bit heavy for me, is that.
This is more my thing…:)

‘Music’ for non-musicians.
Tedious tintinnabulation for the tone-deaf.
I’ll get me coat. 🙄
I’m not a fan of RATM, bleuebelle. Too political for me. Sorry.
Boadicea, hope you don’t mind the series of music posts that I’ve been posting. These aren’t old tracks, I am showcasing the best of what’s new in the world of hard rock. My goal is to bring heavy metal to the masses (or deafness).
Bearsy, don’t forget to click the like button on the way out. 🙂
Megadeth covered the Willie Dixon song, Ain’t Superstitious, on their second Album Peace Sells but you all knew that already. 😉

No problems with the music (?!) JW, just as long as you don’t expect us all to like it!
Where can I buy it?…..Can you hear me? I said “WHERE CAN I BUY IT?” 🙂 🙂 🙂
Never really did take to full on metal, I prefer my mosh a little more middle aged. Pass the pipe and furry pink slippers. 🙂
Of course my MP3 collections is teeming with Whitesnake, AC/DC, Yes, Saxon, Crocus, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Asia and Black Sabbath.
I have thrown in some more recent classics too. Limp Biskit, Offspring, Linkin Park, Metallica but none of that Slipknot hoo hah.
I particularly love this one nothing like the song of the same name by that miniature, dead-heat-in-a-zeppelin-race, country n western barbie doll woman. 🙂
Don’t blame you, actually, TR; I veer between hating that song and loving it, although I daresay it is the nearest I ever got to heavy metal as a teenager..To be honest, the whole genre does sort of give me the creeps, as I think it often sounds like some sort of coded occult thing…then again, maybe it is all just a bit of playacting…
Actually, I like that last one, Ferret.
Whats not to like Bloob?
Like I said, it’s a partiular fav of mine. 🙂
Yngwie Malmsteen anyone?
