Rapid eye movement sleep (REM sleep) is a normal stage of sleep characterized by the random movement of the eyes. REM, the rock group, have called it a day. They were formed in Athens, Georgia. (You know, that Athens, Georgia stuff really gets me. Love America, I really do)

Every road comes to an end, they travelled it well.
When I lived in Atlanta in the 90s, I went out with a girl who had been at university with the REM boys at UGA. (University Georgia Athens). UGA had produced another great group, the B52s. This is one of my favourite songs.
Husband reminded me that elder son had been a great fan of REM, so we listened to a few of their songs. Dreary dirges! I think son must have been going through a period of existentialist angst at the time.
