This article in the DT seems to give hope to those who would like to see the UK out of the political union with EUSSR.
As one of those who was conned into voting to remain in the Common Market by promises that there was no hidden political agenda, I have been appalled by the fact that my vote has allowed, as this article says, the EU to become a kind of occupying force in the country of my birth.
As to the Chief Secretary to the Treasury’s comment:
Sadly, Eurosceptics on left and right fail to understand Winston Churchill’s central insight that sharing sovereignty strengthens influence and isolation weakens us.
Winnie must have been turning in his grave like a whirlwind during the last few decades while modern-day politicians have given away what he, and so many others, fought to retain… the sovereignty of the UK.
My sentiments entirely!
And mine!
Could not agree more.
Typical innit.
The MPs decide they know better and don’t care what the gen public wants. The message has become beyond lost.
You can dare to hope Boadicea, but I will not be holding my small, furry breath.
I think the EU might end up freeing all member states, Boadicea. Many commentators are saying that when the euro goes, the whole edifice collapses. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Danny Alexander is another disgrace to Scotland, but then he’s a teuchter.
I’m another who voted to remain in the Common Market, but was never given the chance to vote on anything else.
Call it what it is, the EUSSR.
Ditto. Fingers crossed.
I’d like to imagine that there is a special place in Hell for the Liberal Democrats, but can’t fully accept that the Devil would have them. They might be a bit beyond his tolerance.
The sooner the EUgoslavia goes, the better. It’s a disgrace to the UK and the European continent. The British are alienated from their natural allies, the unique qualities that make each country on the mainland great are being undermined by the homogenisation-drive of the supranational elite.
Now imagine how it is for Germans who were never given a vote on any of this, just told to shut up and smile.
Never was conned.
Voted no in the 70’s. Being totally xenophobic I always subscribed to the ‘wogs begin at Calais’ principle and not to be trusted in any way, shape or form.
Seems I was right.
Unfortunately the 1922 committee has no real teeth and I doubt they have the balls to bring the govt. down over it. All piss and wind.
Sounds promising, but I’m afraid I agree with Furry and CO on this one, it unlikely to get off the ground. Still we could be wrong.
