To use the age-old cliché “You could not make it up”, it turns out that some windfarm owners were paid for NOT producing electricty when the wind was very strong the other day, at the tail end of Hurricane Katia.
It turns out that too much would be produced and it would overload the National Grid! All new windfarms should be disallowed unless those proposing them can prove that the machines will produce energy whenever the wind blows AND that energy can be stored for later use. This can be done with electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen, or pumping water uphill as at Electric Mountain. Llanberis.
Time to form the Don Quixote Society!
You’re right, FEEG. This is just stupidity, to produce electricity that cannot be stored, or even sold on to other countries. Storage capacity must be expanded.
What appalled me was that they were all owned by foreigners and the public were paying their subsidies in green extras on their bills.
The bloody UK govt would sell their citizens up the river every time in favour of wogs/spics/krausts/eytiies/wops, ANYONE as long as they are not UK WASPS.
It seriously is time for a revolution, how much more are people going to take?
CoB the Brits will keep on sitting back and taking it. If you complain or rant you are accused of being a Victor Meldrew or moaning old git. Or else they think you are mad.
I complain of bad service and people look astounded.
I had my eyes tested at Boots on 27th July, the glasses came back and I could not see the PC screen so I rejected the specs, to be told “take them and try them” I refused and said if I take them there is no guarantee, I cannot see the screen. Bend your head then she said. Not on you nelly, bad posture and neck ache.
Finally got a retest 23 August and new specs this week, just as bad as the last, so when I dropped them on the counter and said O refund my money and I will go to Specsavers they got really upset. Telling me to take them and test them, why the screen is blurred so not interested.
Other people stood tutting because I was rejecting them and telling them their service was poor, I never raised my voice or used bad language I was just firm that they must refund £319 to my card and they suffer the loss for the test.
But brits hate confrontation or complaining if it means they stand out, they will moan privately but accept poor srvice.
Same in restaurants if service is added and the service was poor I remove the service charge, people always look on in amazement when I do this.
We all know that wind farms are a waste of time.
There seems to be a strange mind-set among the Brits at the moment – that they can do nothing to change the situation.
Good for you Rick! I can’t say it’s that much better here. One certainly gets a few odd looks if one complains, but it doesn’t deter me, or for that matter any of the rest of the family. 🙂
It’s not a mind set, Boadicea. It’s more a question of how one does it. I complain when I feel it necessary. I do it all the time.
I rejected a meal last week, at a restaurant. I explained what was wrong, they agreed it was not up to their usual standard. I had eaten some of it, but the fish was awful. They offered a replacement which I declined so they just deducted my entire meal from the bill.
I will certainly go there again.
I’m not sure this would work with wind farms though; which I absolutely loathe, but I have yet to find anyone who thinks they are a Good Thing.
Those getting the subsidies will think they are an Excellent Thing!
Interesting that you intend to return to the restaurant – most people think we are odd in that we, too, will return to a restaurant where we’ve complained.
True, but they are obviously making a mint!
Well, I felt my complaint was valid and it was handled correctly, so yes, I will go again. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
it really is quite sensible to go back to that restaurant, They will remember you and not try to fob you off with stale inferior food!
RR man after my own heart! I have to say on the whole there is little to complain of here, they really do try much harder than in the UK! Personally i wouldn’t use Boots for glasses or Specsavers, they might be cheap but rarely have a fully overqualified opthalmologist on the staff. Any serious problems of the eyes are not going to be picked up there.
The reason why Danish electricity is the most expensive is that the price is loaded with subsidies for building windfarms!! Now how’s that for crap gubmint?
