“Commanders-in-Chief in the field submitted periodical lists of officers and soldiers who were “mentioned in dispatches”. Award of a Mention ranked below MC or MM and could be for gallantry in action or for a wide range of services on and off the battlefield.”
Perhaps one should be awarded on a monthly basis to a worthy member on this site. I should like to nominate myself as the very first recipient. π

Why not? π !
Are we to infer from this Tocina that you have appointed yourself C-inC or are you brown-nosing someone else?
PS – If you are the C-in-C I unreservedly withdraw that last remark and would add that I have always found you to be a fine fellow, your erudition on this site is unsurpassed, I always look forward to your posts and read them most avidly. If I do not comment, it is only out of deference to your ingrained sense of modesty and humility.
I remain Sir
Youe most obedient servant

Peter,
There is only one Commander in Chief of this site. If you take the time to look at the banner at the top of the page, you will see that person is Boadicea. You will also see that she is a multi tasked person who can control a chariot pulled by two horses without the use of her hands. That should give some indication of her immense and varied capabilities. Why on earth would I want to appoint my self to that exhaled position?
My post, was just a bit of fun in response to my mention of MID’s to Bearsy. It probably went right over your head. Not to worry, it can be difficult, if not impossible to attain your high standards. I will have to ask Boadicea to issue oxygen masks to us lesser mortals.
The mask might explain your ‘exhaled position’! π
Thank you Janus, all achieved without a mask. π
Well Tocino – I think my my comment misfired. I was expecting a repartee. Never mind:-)
