Visitor From Britain

How many people have heard of Maryam Namazie?

Maryam is a campaigner for ‘One Law for All’ in the UK, and is disturbed by ‘the silence of parts of the media and the inaction by the British government over what she says are sharia’s attacks on the fundamental rights of Britain’s Muslim citizens.’

What I find so encouraging are the numbers of Muslims who seem to be supporting her cause.

  1. Never heard of her, thus confirming the media’s lack of interest. I read the linked article with interest until the last paragraph, what is it with Human Rights and everyone demanding them? As you say often enough Boadicea, what about Human Responsibilities?

Interesting that sharia has been given the nod in family law as being ok – I guess Bearsy had a point in a previous discussion.

I wonder bearing in mind the riots recently, wouldn’t sharia’s punishments be a little more effective in criminal law than our useless criminal justice system?

(calm down, no, I don’t really think that!)

  2. Nope, never heard of her either. One thing I do know, however, is that you respect and obey the laws of the country you are in.

  3. It seems that many British Muslims want to live under Sharia law, the idiots. I didn’t think Muslims had any human rights under Islam anyway. One would expect daughters to have the human right not to be killed by their nearest and dearest if they displease the paterfamilias set in the ways of the Dark Ages. I want to see Sharia banished from the UK along with those who think they prefer it. Why should the British government be expected to interfere in an Islamic tradition? I can hear the whines already.

  4. If you want to live under Sharia law, then Britain is not the place for you. The airport is thataway. Feel free.
