I arrived at work today and sat at my desk drinking my coffee, when I decided it was rather hot in the room so I went to open the window. Looking across the flat roof I noticed something adrift. Half a roof rather than a complete roof in front of me.
Overnight the scum in Orpington had decided to help themselves to half off our lead roof and scarpered. Being a dutiful soul I called Mr Plod on the new 101 number for non emergencies.
After an 8 minute wait a human of sorts answered the call and took all the details. I was then called back for extra info, date of birth (??) ethnicity which I declined to answer to then be asked the reason for the info is to ascertain if it is a racist attack. I informed him that I did consider it to be a racist attack as I am a white, hetro-sexual male who works and pays tax and that the perpetrators where most probably the pikey scum bags that live around Orpington (the biggest pikey settlement in the UK) and who are all on benefit and scour the area to steal.
He informed me that my attitude was wrong and that I should not say such things.
I still consider it a racist attack but Mr Plod doesn’t. Ho Hum such is life.

Not really ho hum ricks is it? It’s pretty disgusting state of affairs when the scum bags steal your roof and we are paying enough in taxation for their benefits and on top of that they sell your lead…as I said the other day the black economy is very healthy. My son was without internet and telephone because some scum bags went down a man hole out side the exchange and stole the copper wiring. Today on the lunchtime news they had one place where scumbags had stolen cabling and it had blown the fuses and plugs in several houses that had destroyed all their household appliances

It’s shite and no mistake. But try and take comfort in the knowledge that every now and then one of these sub human scum try to pinch some copper which just so happens to still be connected to the national grid.

Course, the police leave the pikey’s well alone generally, unless they mount An Operation involving like 200 of Britain’s best bobbies, and even then, prosecutions rarely result.

Yoo hoo, Rosie. The mustelid did indeed return home safely, as did his Beloved. The Cave is awaitng the next influx of brither, wife, daughters and his siser-in-law on Sunday, followed by the Great Wolf and the Great She-Wolf in September.

Rick, your best bet is to move to the NW Land of the Free where gunlaw rules and very few non-WASPs interrupt the view.
Not just gypsies any more – lots of normal good old english drug thieving scum are stealing metal these days too. There’s so much money to be made in it, more than simple burglary. The second hand metal dealers are the real crooks, there’s just no regulation of the industry.
Please don’t think I favour the travelling community – I have two daughters who know they can bring any shape or size of boyfriend home with one exception……to be sure so it is sir! 😀
I’ll say one thing it certainly doesn’t happen here except to the very odd abandoned industrial property. They would get shot without a thought by either the neighbours, householders or police themselves.
