  1. I tried to take a photo, but my camera is crap and I am a crapper photographer, but it does not matter as I am sure there are lots of great photos out there. The thing is the moon looks like a slightly rotting orange. Well, I have one of those in my rubbish bin. What is more amazing is that the sky was clear enough for me to see it. Yesterday we had a berg wind and temperatures in the mid 20s – lovely weather for winter. Today it was blowing a gale and bucketing and cold. It has stopped for the time being, but we expect worse weather tomorrow. FYI a berg wind is a hot dry wind blowing from the mountainous interior to the coast. It varies from mild (about 10km/h) to gusts up to 100km/h that cause structural damage. It is strongest in the western portion of the continent. It is always, and I mean always followed by rough winds, rain and cold temperatures.

  2. Having taken a picture (12 actually) and spent 5 minutes posting one of them on here for the enjoyment of members who are clouded over, I thought that I’d take another wander outside and have a look at the total eclipse.

    Very nice.

On my way to my vantage point, now please remember that I’ve switched off all external lights and internal lights that may affect my enjoyment of the view, I tripped over this blooming thing! (I was sort of taking a wide right to prevent any chance of falling into the pool!)

I hit it hard, I’ve managed to stop the bleeding but my goodness it’s sore 😦

The wife and children are in bed, so I think that I’ll keep this as our secret
    😳

  3. It is a beautiful night here in Portugal, warm and with not a cloud in the sky. The moon rose red and already in shadow shortly after nine o’clock and we sat in complete darkness on the terrace with a cold bottle of Campo da Gruta and watched the whole thng evolve until all was over minutes after 11 PM.

It is also a full moon tonight and I am beside myself! 🙂

  5. Feeg and Rick – What I meant was that there was a total eclipse of a full moon and I was spoilt for choice at which to howl at first. 🙂 The next such occasion, apparently, will be in September 2015.
