Algoa Bay
I visited a family member yesterday, this has been the view from his lounge these last 25 years. I recall friends of his visiting and exclaiming “it’s like living in a postcard” they are quite right. While I was there yesterday, a school of dolphins meandered along the shore very close to the beach, cargo and fishing boats were slowly sailing to and fro, I could see families walking along the sands in fact never a dull moment! I thought that I’d share…

Here’s another moving the camera (my Nokia phone) slightly to the left this picture includes the harbour

The beach (all 2 km of it) is of course King’s Beach, named after King George VI, William and Harry’s great grandfather who visited here in 1947 with Queen Elizabeth and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret.
Fantastic Soutie, I want to be there, now.
Morning Val.
This little stretch of coast from the harbour to the start of the bay (Cape Recife) is completely ‘built up’ on the land side of the road but not a single commercial or residential building is allowed on the sea side. It allows for wonderful walks, drives and views.
The buildings you see in these pics are the lifesaving clubhouse and beach manager facilities.
Mornin’ Soutie. The Cave has fantastic views south down to the coast and north to the mountains. Visitors seem to like one or the other – I have become a little blasé about both.
