Blustery day

We have been experiencing strong blustery winds across the UK. Here in Oxfordshire bits of tree, green leaves, dust and other detritus are being buffeted around continuously giving everything a rather restless unsettling feel. Cycloman doesn’t like this weather.

I thought I had staked pretty well this year, but there’s always something that grows higher than I expect, or quicker. Last time I checked the Japanese Anemones they were about 8 inches tall – now they are nearer two feet tall and in desperate need of staking. And as I really don’t like the stakes to show it is quite a challenging job. My paeony Sarah Bernhardt has grown tall this year and is really rather lovely. The best I’ve ever seen her.

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. It is fun to have it back. Tonight I have picked two paeony blooms… too heavy with rain!

  2. We only had a sprinkling of rain here, but it’s been very windy. I just went outside a few moments ago and the wind has dropped – hurray!

  3. yes, it’s a little calmer here. We had a heavy downpour about 5 pm – but it has dried out pretty quickly.

  4. Lovely images, Pseu. So pleased you got your camera back!!! My paeonies are doing well too – a plant is in flower after two initial years of leaves only. Smells gorgeous too.

Didn’t bike at the weekend, unusually – too much to do plus intensive garden tidying. Went for a couple of trots instead. Wish cyclopath good luck from me for the Dragon Ride. He must be putting the finishing touches to the training by now. It’s gonna be a killer but the sense of achievement will be overwhelming!!

  5. Thanks Jan. The buffeting wind was a challenge on Sunday. I’ll cross my fingers for him.
