  1. If you text Happy Easter on predictive text one option it:
    Harry Faster
    So Harry Faster to you.

  2. Once upon a time I would have declared loudly that Easter is merely a Pagan Festival that was hijacked by Christianity – as were a number of other Pagan Festivals, Places of Worship and Customs taken over by the Christian ‘zealots’ of long ago.

But that was when I lived in a society that accepted that criticism of ‘belief systems’ was valid. No Christian ever told me that I had to ‘respect’ their beliefs – nor did they ever try to assert that their beliefs should supersede the laws of my land.

I know that many Christians claim that Christianity is the reason that Europe espoused democracy and equality. Well it did when it had no choice! But, just as Christianity took over the pagan festivals to survive so, too, it incorporated new ways of looking at the world. Sure, it has stood against change as long as it could, but eventually it has bowed down changes in the way its followers look at the world and has woven itself into the fabric of European society.

Would that other religions did the same…

Christianity is, whether I believe in its doctrines or not, part of my culture – so sod “Happy Pagan Spring Festival” –

    HAPPY EASTER

    … to everyone 🙂

Lucky you Boadicea. Wish I could say the same. Indoctrinated ijmn Christianity all my school life, and even now I have to listen to Christians whinging that no-one loves them and other religions get better deals. Utter tripe. All I blimin see in this country is Christian imagery and their so called self righteous morality everywhere. I don’t need an imaginery friend to give me morality and positive thoughts to other fellow humans.

Sadly, no agnostic has told me to respect their views either, until now.

Extremely unusually for you Boadicea you appear to me (and only me, and I’m not meaning to be rude or offend or get censored and I’m not grumpy or aggressive or feeling negative thoughts, and word appear is key) somewhat conradictory. You “sod” my cheerful non religious greetings and impose your own value system on me. Tut tut. Alas, I cannot respect your belief if you impose it here. It certainly ain’t part of my culture.

I shall politely decline your Happy Easter greetings as they are meaningless (to me, granted not anyone else here), but I shall still wish you and everyone here a Happy Spring Festival public holiday opportunity! 😀
