Thank you Soutie for selecting my humble offering as the winning entrant and giving me the honour of presiding over the 9th poetry competition. After some thought I have settled on the topic of beautiful things. There is no need to worry about form or length, just write about anything that you find especially beautiful. (Perhaps poor Monty can take a pleasant and uneventful holiday for once?)
Entries must be submitted by Wednesday, the 4th of May at midnight, GMT.
Chuckle, Christopher.
Monty Mouse in Monterey? Well, perhaps not, but I’ll work something out. 🙂
Bother,” I’ll” would be better.
Everything looks fine to me, Minty!

Come on – someone else….?
Oh dear, I haven’t felt inspired poetically at all; nothing seems to work.
So, I’ve ferreted out an old one, which sort of fits the bill. I’ll post it here, Christopher because I don’t think it really deserves its own post. It’s just to keep Nym company. 🙂
Trees
Ideas float and mix with tasks,
It might be good to stop and ask
What is it I’m trying to gain,
Clarity of mind or brain ?
Or just a glimpse of what I feel,
Or what to cook for our next meal.
The phone is ringing, people chat.
Where the hell is my new hat?
Emotions drain, and minds recoil;
Bring the carrots to the boil,
Make the gravy, ask if life
Is better now, or full of strife ?
Evening calm and drink in hand
Head firmly buried deep in sand
Tired but happy, banish noise
Relax and think about the joys,
Through the window see the wood,
Sometimes it feels as though I could.
I still see trees then vision clears,
A wood appears beyond my tears.
I love this Ara. Well done on winning
Lovely, Ara.
Many thanks, ladies. 🙂
