I have yet to watch the full hour program broadcast on BBC 3 last night, but if the clip here is anything to go by, the BBC is trying to make Islamic converts look weird, stupid, selfish and plain ignorant to their fellow county folk. Not the usual BBC effort as they tend to be very pro, or at least attempting to be balanced (I know they don’t always succeed, but at least they try). I shall report back when I’ve watched the whole documentary of brother on brother.
I know it’s a sensitive subject at the moment, and I’m not intending to stir anyone up here, but this clip in isolation does offer a very sad picture of why someone would change their entire life around an organised religion (of any variety) I have to say though, every Muslim I’ve ever met has shaken me by the right hand.
And just for the humour – Ginger people just shouldn’t grow beards!
Oh bother, I just can’t get the link to work, I tried 5 times! Any teccie help available?
Edit your post. Click on html view. select a piece of text. click on the ‘insert link’ button at the top of the text field and paste the link into the box that appears. That should do it 🙂
Cuprum,
What Bravo said.
I have just had to do the very same on my latest post. I suspect WordPress is experiencing its time of the month. 😉
He is, and looks, like a dick head.
Took me less that 10 seconds. Bravo’s advice is spot on. Furry doesn’t (yet) know what he’s talking about!
I have promised myself not to help on here after 10. (10 Black label quarts, but I made an exception this evening :))
‘I have just had to do the very same on my latest post. I suspect WordPress is experiencing its time of the month’ – ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Help, help. I’m turning into a geek – just talked second daughter and light of my miserable life through setting up her new iphone.
Oh, an interesting post, Cuprum.
I am a great fan of the much maligned BBC, but I hardly ever watch it these days.
I’m not a great fan of organised religion, but I understand why some derive a great deal of comfort from religion generally.
I am unlikely to watch the programme, but I would be interested to hear your views.
Soutie,
I was agreeing with Bravo.
Normally I just copy the URL of the site I want and dump it in the comments box. Today, WordPress apparently “has the painters in” and it isn’t working. So I had to us ethe link button as in Bravos most timely response.
Yah boo sucks with raspberries on. 🙂
I am a fan of the BBC – our TV would be useless without its input, and I listen to a lot of its programmes. I understand that some people think it’s biased towards the left – we have the same complaint about our national broadcasting service here. So it’s good to see that it is prepared to tackle some of the ‘hard’ issues head on.
It seems to be a sad fact that ‘converts’ are extremely militant – whether they be Muslims, Atheists or reformed smokers. Somehow, having “seen the light” – they are unable to be in any way moderate about their new-found certainty that they have been saved.
I tend to think, somewhat patronisingly I’ll admit, that most of these converts are rather sad folk who need a crutch of self-righteousness to make themselves feel good about themselves. Unfortunately, converts to extreme Islam are a danger to the rest of us.
A techo note for Ferret
In engineering speak, “RTFM”.
Nothing has gone wrong with WordPress.
