Blonde moment

The NSW spoke the other day for some forgotten reason about, and I quote, ‘the Four Horsemen of the Acropolis’. “Whaaaaaat?”, she declaimed to the corpsing wreck on the floor.

A Zangada was also famous for gems such as “muslim nets”, “mongolia paint” and her best ever to our daughter-in-law, “Jane, he’s got a cough.  Give him a spoonful of Cuprinol” (Cuprinol is a wood preservative.  Calpol is the children’s cough medicine).

It’s Sunday.  Feel free to indulge.

Just loping around. Extremely fond of roast boar in particular, meat in general and cooking on the barbie. Fish is good too.

  1. Boadicea, many years ago, heatedly exclaimed, “It is easier to pass through the knee of an idol …”

The remark has never been forgotten, and it has been passed down to children, step-children and grandchildren.

  2. Asking a class of kids, circa 2004, to sing God rest ye gerry mental men.
Sums me up quite nicely, come to think of it.

  3. It was the day of Princess Diana’s funeral. My mate’s family were gathered, watching the scene at home, a sombre mood as guests began entering the church before the service began. Now this is a big East London family, grand children, mums and dads, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles. It was already a solemn mood when granny began to get agitated, even crying out in alarm. “What’s up granny” someone asked, “are you OK”? Granny was shaking in her chair and pointing (at the arrival on TV of the tenor Luciano Pavarotti). “LOOK” she screamed, “its Paparazzi” believing ‘he’ caused Diana’s death.

Despite the protestations from the family that all was well, that he was not the murderer, that afternoon never reclaimed its solemn ground. Whether Granny was a blonde I don’t know – but certainly an ‘oldie’ moment! Of course it became a classic!

  4. The boy once wrote to me using the bon mot ‘Styg and Gloom’
He was never allowed to forget it.
A wonder he never asked who Styg was as he did of ‘Hark the herald’!

All very well, but I PAID for a decent education that included Mythology, money wasted seemingly!!!
