Last year my wife and I celebrated our ‘golden’ wedding anniversary. I met her at a dance hall, and as they say “The rest is history”. Thank goodness the populare dance was the cha-cha-cha, which I could get by on. Some 50 years later, if I were to admit to any regret in my life, it would be not learning to dance. My wife ‘was’ a good dancer and I love dance music. I wish that I could have danced the Argentinian tango with her. This evening a TV advert reminded me of this. I recognised the music but couldn’t name it. here it is;-
One of my favourite film is ‘Scent of a Woman’ and of course this sequence; –
PB,
Back in the day, were you doing something like this?
Hello Tocino – Ah! Stocking and suspenders! Was into swing, Fitzgerald, Sinatra, more than rock-n-roll.
TB,
Stockings & suspenders. The missing words…the giggle line.
Happy days. 🙂
Thank you for that tango scene, PB. Having watched it, I then watched Al Pacino’s speech in front of the Baird committee. Great stuff. I hope you have a happy 51st anniversary this year – we’re 10 years adrift.
Thanks sheona – brilliant film
Toc – TB? Your antecedents are showing 🙂

Nice one Peter. Did you know the tango is popular in Finland, and there many ladies would ask a man to dance too! I regretfully I never learnt ballroom dancing, but have enjoyed the Finnish scene in summer restaurants.
Funnily enough, PG, on my one short visit to Finland, that was the main advice that our agent gave me when I arrived.
Finland has the highest murder rate in Europe with Scotland second. On the radio yesterday they were discussing the proposed action over the Celtic v Rangers football matches. I thought the professional (?) guy who said that “Correlation doesn’t necessarily mean causation” was probably right. The murder rate in Finland can’t be blamed on the tango unless of course it’s popular with Celtic and Ranger supporters – in which case!
Delightful post Peter B, loved the video.
Come on Toc, on the floor, I’m stood here in my bobby socks, lets go….
Hee Hee Val,
Looks like your jump suitr needs ironing. 😉
No Ferret, it’s my face that needs ironing 🙂 🙂
Ace!
Ah, yes. Finlad may have a cold climate but the ladies are hot (allegedly). 🙂
Not just the Finlads, Janus, but the Finlasses, also.
Are your fingers cold this morning?
Not just my digits, mate! This is the home of brass monkeys. 😦
You old romantic, you. Many happy returns, Peter.
Hello Levent – nice to see you.
Thanks Peter, nice to see you too.
