What would you do with a million dollars?

“The Daily Post at WordPress.com” asks the question, What would you do with a million dollars? My answer would be to firstly translate this figure into pounds….£616,056.36 – then what?

I’d put enough aside to pay for school fees and university costs for 2 boys plus a bit in a special account.

I’d do those niggling outstanding jobs that need doing and decorate the house.

I’d book a holiday for the family.

I’d buy a car for me….(which one I don’t know) and let the boys learn in my current car.

I’d put much of the rest in investments accounts, but paying myself first a whole years salary plus a bit, so I could have a year off working  –  and treat a few family and friends when an opportunity occurred .

What about you?

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. I would get started in life, find a decent place to live and buy it straight away as to avoid making onerous payments for the best of my life. With whatever I have left I might go on a few more holidays.

  2. Tell nobody and do nothing except buy a top-of-the-range Range Rover to send to Janspeed and then to Wood & Pickett. Otherwise life is perfect.

  3. After telling nobody and realising that actually, it’s not that much money to live on for the rest of one’s natural term I’d pay off debts (mortgage and ex-wife!) and then go on a huge travel experience going to all those places you thought you’d never get to.

Then get home, realise you still need to work and so save a bit, spend a bit and help out some family and friends if they ask nicely!

Oh, and buy a lottery ticket!

  4. … not that much: it would greatly help though wouldn’t it? Hahaha.
I’ve added another clue for the photo quiz

  5. Agree with Cuprum – tell no one!

Buy a larger house, and travel. I reckon that would just about spend the lot!

  6. I would spend the first half of it on wine, women and song then waste the rest of it!

  7. Afraid in today’s world a million dollars aint a lot.
If you live in the south east of England then a modest semi costs £550k

Kind of puts it in perspective doesn’t it.

But I would have a holiday and blow the lot before the value goes down any more or the tax man wants it.

I’d give it all away, Pseu. It’s only money, it’s not important.

Aye, a fine, nice answer from JW, Pseu. Just give me a wee private moment with him, please?

JW, speaking of the day that’s in it today, it’s only a game and not that important as well either, I suppose. To be fair, you were not very good. I still hope that you will win the League, if we don’t.

Webster is better and younger than Weir, in my opinion. What was Walter thinking of?

  9. When you’ve never had money, you don’t miss it. (anon)

Having a quick look-in as the man with an excellent Christian name, Christian Bale, my new best pal, has a quality film on auntie 2.
Yes, we’re hurting, hurting like hell, though we’re not out of it yet. I’m eternally optimistic, even after our worst performance since last Thursday. Felt sorry for big Davie today, his legs have definitely gone.

Having read the first two books of Robert Harris’ Cicero trilogy, I can see the parallels between you and the oft misquoted Ciccy. Naturally gifted orators blessed with the minds of a thousand and one libraries.
or is it all smoke and mirrors

Delighted to see you use one of my heroes catchphrases the other night.
