I once had an ostrich steak and thought it might have been left alive on the bird, it sure looked better alive than it tasted!
Interesting pics, especially those rocks.
Surprising that, Christina, perhaps you were unlucky. I haven’t eaten Ostrich, but I’ve had Emu quite a few times and found it very palatable – teensy bit gamey, but not strongly. I would have thought that they would taste similar, but perhaps not.
Great pics, Toc. A friend did the Garden Route in S Africa and saw penguins. I’m presuming this is the same area.
I always think it’s just as well that ostriches are flightless. Seagull poo on one’s clothing is bad enough…
Hey Janh, you want to see what pelican poo can do to a car! Fortunately not experienced it on clothing (yet).
Nice pics, I think penguins are so cute…thanks for sharing them.
Toc, these are ace, and very nostalgic, especially to Marion, who grew up in SA,the last few years just outside Cape Town. My memories stem from a brief calling in in ’61, but they are still vivid!
Nice pics Toc, I like to see wildlife in the wild, not stuck in a cage or enclosure.
My youngest daughter mentioned penguins the other day as we were driving her to the Airport. She used the word to describe the rather haughty women who trained cabin crew for BA when she flew for them. ‘Why penguins,’ I said…..’Birds who don’t fly.’ came the reply.
