A Welcome for Cuprum, and Bootsy and Peter

In the early days of this site, every new author was formally greeted with a notice in the sidebar, but this pleasantry appears to have lapsed recently.

So, a belated welcome to Bootsy, our true blue correspondent in Perth; a more up-to-date welcome to Peter Barnett, a seasoned campaigner from the Dark Side, and an on time welcome to Cuprum426.    It’s great to have the three of you on board.

I must confess that Cuprum is known to Boadicea and to me.   I shall not compromise his privacy, for that is down to him to retain or to abandon at his choice, but I felt that the pre-existing relationship should be disclosed to all other passengers on the Chariot for the sake of probity.   You may all relax, however, for he is not yet another Australian – he is actually quite normal, for a Pom.

Greetings again to Bootsy, Peter and Cuprum – it’ll be the last you get! 😀

  1. Thank you for the kind welcome! I shall try to bring my best to the site – I have been an avid reader of the chariot for three months and have thoroughly enjoyed the healthy debates, the funnies, the informative, the creative and the controversial.

I have to confess to being a little ignorant in the ways of the internet especially blogs so please be patient with me!

I look forward to joining in – even though I am a pom 😉

  2. Thanks Bearsy, I got a very warm welcome from all, not so long ago. As I’ve not been around much recently, is also good to have not been forgotten.

I see I’ve missed a few photo comps too…bugger! However, the reason I’ve been absent is the Company I worked for went belly-up the other week, so I’ve been spending time doing the necessary to secure employment. (So much for the benefits of working from home, my toddling out in an arvo to take photos will have to be shelved, for a while at least).

Welcome to Cuprum and Peter too…..

Ps: I’ve seen mentioned a few times, but where or what is the ‘Dark Side’ some refer to?

  3. Hi Bootsy – hey, tough luck about the job. Hope you get sorted and fixed soon, with plenty of time for extended smokos. 🙂

The ‘Dark Side’ refers to the ‘My Telegraph’ blog site, usually shortened to ‘MyT’ – the site whence many of us sprang. 😆

  4. HI Bootsy, sorry about the job. Don’t know where you are but if in the UK we are doing a Get back to work course. Hard work for you, but normally rewarding at the end.
If you want to know more get in touch.

  5. Hello Bootsy, Cuprum and Peter.

“The ‘Dark Side’ refers to the ‘My Telegraph’ blog site, usually shortened to ‘MyT’ – the site whence many of us sprang.”

Bearsy, I prefer to call it “The Distinguished Competition” using the vernacular of the esteemed writer, editor, publisher and sometime actor- Stan Lee. 🙂

  6. Bootsy – We all naturally assume you are safe from the fires, having worried about those vulnerable to the East Coast floods. Welcome and good luck with the job.

  7. Thanks all, for the good wishes, I’ve no doubt a new and interesting job will turn up soon…or I may request food parcels at some point!

Rick, thanks so much for the offer of assistance. Is touching to think after such a short time being here, offers of help are at hand.

Oz – Yep all ok thanks. I understand one was started from a spark off an angle grinder, use of which would be a big ‘no no’ in these dry conditions. I wouldn’t like to be in his shoes at the moment.

Pseu, I wish you well too, never a nice position to be in. Not sure what line of work you are in, but I’m sure something good will come your way.

Finally, I checked out ‘The Telegraph’ site…..probably the least said the better. I did have a few laughs, possibly for not the right reasons. Very strange place….

If you’ve any questions – just ask them. We have, over time, devised a ‘customary’ way of doing things – like not answering comments in comments. Most are designed to make life easier for everyone – that one is only so that people can see you’ve answered them.

Don’t forget that you are in charge of your post – so if you get a comment that you don’t like – you are at liberty to remove it… and you don’t have to explain why.

  9. A belated welcom from me, too, and good luck with the job-hunting Pseu and Bootsy. Pseu, given the current retrenchments in Govt.spending, and knowing, as we do, your profession, I think we would all be interested in your esperiences as you search for your next role?
