He does go on a bit, Oz.

I don’t like definitions, but if there is a definition of freedom, it would be when you have control over your reality to transform it, to change it, rather than having it imposed upon you. You can’t really ask for more than that.
Mark Knopfler

  1. Ah, you’re the first to notice, Araminta. It should be OZ for O Zangado as opposed to Oz for Oztralier. 🙂

  2. No, sorry you are completely wrong, Bearsy.

My daughter had to listen to it a thousand times and she is adamant it is “chips”.

Well she was only five at the time. 😉

  3. Chips!! I always sing chips.

Not entirely sure if OZ is just feeling a little peckish but count me in as Knopfler fan.

Even if he hadn’t written the theme music for Local Hero. Even if he hadn’t written excellent Dire Straits stuff. Even if he hadn’t so sweetly, thanked his Dad for using every last penny to buy him his first electric guitar – and didn’t have the heart to mention it actually needed an amplifier….I would still love him utterly for an impromptu acoustic set during an interview at Hay on Wye which made me all teary with joy.

I wish I’d been to Knebworth.

  4. Bearsy – Start with Zen #2. For some reason he deleted a Mark Knopfler piece I posted and then seems to have toddled off to bed. Don’t worry, I’m not really angry – just intrigued, but don’t tell Zen, OK? 🙂

  5. Free chips? I want some, and before delivering custom kitchens and installing microwave ovens!

    OZ

  6. Thanks OZ – my research shows he deleted “Sultans of Swing”. That’s a hanging offence! He better have an excellent reason, or The Bear will growl. 😎

  7. It wasn’t just the album version, Bearsy, it was a MK live performance and the absolute mutt’s nuts. Be gentle with him nonetheless! 🙂

  8. Boadicea and I attended his concert at Bruce Stadium on the 10th December 1991, which should have been billed as the first underwater performance – it rained the entire time. But nobody cared! 😆

  9. Wjat’s wrong with free kicks?! 🙂

    Tee heee.

(I’m sure Elton John sang, “Saturday night’s alright on Fridays”)
