A different snapshot for Pseu’s comp

Following Bearsy’s instructions I have clicked on the thumbnail of some of the images I’ve inserted on the Chariot’s hallowed pages. The sizes of these ugly uploads are pretty big. I can emphasize with his concerns about re-sizing. The pre-processing is the problem for me. I know it’s been said before but as a newbie I might have missed the tutorial. What is the best program, by which I mean the easiest to use, for trimming photographs?

As for the photography competition I don’t think I’ll be participating much because in my neck of the woods a guy wandering about with a camera taking snaps would be-
a) called a weirdo.
b) called a weirdo and attacked by vigilantes with pitchforks and torches.
c) called a weirdo and attacked by vigilantes with pitchforks and torches and then for good measure, have his camera stolen; along with the mobile phone, money etc.

While watching an old Bob Ross TV programme, The Joy of Painting on Discovery home and leisure this morning –I know, I’ve too much time on my hands- I thought I’d bring something different to the party. The following painting probably doesn’t qualify for the competition but it does contain sunlight and clouds.

Before anyone feels the urge to criticise this work of art I would re-direct them to the paint program on your computer. Have a go yourself. It’s challenging “painting” using only a mouse. To paraphrase the famous words of Randall P. McMurphy in One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
“I sure as hell tried, now, didn’t I?”

Sunlight on the Clyde

P.S. Sorry Bearsy, I’ve checked and the picture has huge dimensions. I look forward to being placed in the Hall of Shame.

  1. Well, I like this JW, I feel it should Snoopy sitting by the post box somehow 🙂

Crikey, it sounds pretty dangerous where you live, scary even 😉

All photographic software has the ability to crop or resize images JW, Picasa from Google is a free download, and very good for all sorts of things, take a look. I don’t think Adobe has any freebies, but it has some great software. Also, Microsoft picture manager is usually on most computers, that’s good for cropping and resizing too.

  2. Thanks for hitting the like button, Val. I could use this to defend myself from the impending Hall of Shame trial.

I’ll check out Picasa as I’m sure that’s been mentioned before. Also sounds like Picasso which is fitting, don’t you think? 🙂

  3. Hi JW Picasso.

I was going to suggest Picasa. It is very easy to use, and free!

I’m now “painting” in MSPaint. Give me another couple of years and I just may have something quite wonderful to post, or possibly not. 😦

  4. Thanks for the suggestions, Ara and Ferret. Need to go now and try to fix the photo before the Bear wakes up.

“We want happy paintings. Happy paintings. You can do anything you want to do. This is your world.” – The Great Bob Ross.

  5. I’d forgotten photoscape Ferret, it is a good un, possibly somewhat better than Picasa, and as you say, it’s another freebie.

  6. ‘Sunlight on the Clyde’ is a work of pure genuis -nearly. The glare from the flash could’ve been lined up with the yellow sun, and then…. well 10 / 10 IMHO

  7. Haw, JW, come clean. We all realise that you had to paint your own photo as the sunlight which Pseu specified is always in short supply in Weegieland. The only bleaker place in Caledonia (S&W) is, of course, Leith, whatever the Proclaimers sing.

Moving on and real reason for comment. Tell me it’s not true that the Huns have agreed a fee of £700,000 with Birmingham for K Miller esq? You’re still in Europe and in with a very good chance of coming second to us in the League. Your books can surely not be so unbalanced that you have to give him away? If so, this is a black day for Scottish football, in my opinion.
