CWJ travelled extensively with his family, having worked in eleven countries over thirty years. A keen photographer, holding a Private Pilot's Licence, he focuses mainly on landscape and aerial imagery. Having worked in the Middle East extensively he follows developments in that region with particular interest, and views with growing concern, the radicalisation flowing from Islamic fundamentalism, and the intolerance for opposing views, stemming from it. It’s kinda Brueghelesque – minus people. Very nice.
Love the long shadows and light in this
Shadows, light, reflections, this has got the lot CWJ. Are you entering this for Pseu’s Themed competition?
Good shot.
Thanks. I wasn’t sure which to enter of the four I put on my own blog, but this seemed to have the right combination to meet the criteria. I was also unsure how to link it to your request for entries Pseu, but I am hoping it meets with approval…it was taken with a Leica Digilux, a now ancient camera (in digital terms) produced for Leitz by the Fuji Photo Film Company of Japan, which I had bought from a Leica dealer in Frankfurt in the early 1990s. The only difference with Fuji’s own version of the same camera was a piece of leather with the Leitz logo embossed on it, and of course a Leitz price tag!
Janus, most of my photography is landscape and aerial. I do photograph people, but don’t publish those images generally on public websites, so hope that explains why people are “missing”!
Love the sky and the shadows, did you use any filters or do you prefer to make adjustments on the ‘pooter?
OMG: This was as was. The Leica Digilux has very little control over the image (flash/noflash, Macro/No macro)and three choices of quality of resolution, and has no filter capability. On the Canon EOS Digital I use circular polarising filters sometimes to enhance cloud detail, and remove reflections when they are unwanted. If I do anything to images in post-processing nowadays it is indicated in the image file title as a postscript (xyz_PS.jpg, _hrde or _fract etc.)
see the various threads, but it has been decided that photos should be posted in comments on the comp thread. http://bearsy.wordpress.com/2011/01/05/themed-photo-competition-the-first-week-of-2011/
I have updated the original post to include Bearsy’s instructions, so would you mind putting the picture in comments on my post? Thank you.
Will do.
