Morning, cwj.
Superb skies yesterday morning and on Christmas Day morn. You have caught them so well in this
photo.
On the way up the A9 on Christmas Eve, I had done the deviation for a cup of coffee etc. in that cafe in Newtonmore which has been a part of family travelling history since it was a ‘Little Chef’. As we drove on to Kingussie and Aviemore, the sun was setting behind us and the rime-covered deciduous trees we passed were as pink as cherry blossom in the light. Totally stunning.
Excellent photo, ColdWater – really excellent.
Boxing day sunrise was a real cracker – there are some more over on my own blog – didn’t want to fill up Bearsy’s with pix. Incidentally they are entirely unmanipulated – the colours were amazing.
How was the A9? We are due to drive down to Embra on Jan 1st for an annual lunch on the 2nd. Thaw has started here – raining last night, but there is still plenty of snow about.
Hi cwj, we drove back yesterday.
Completely clear from Carrbridge to Drumochter and no problems in the pass itself, but Perth and Kinross and Fife still had lots of snow and the roads were tricky with surface water and spray from lunatic lorries and non-locals driving far too fast in the conditions.
Central Embra is pretty well clear of snow and full of petty and vindictive traffic wardens making up for lost time. Be aware that parking regulations will be in force on 3rd Jan if you are still around then. Public holiday but no slack being cut.
