Said an envious, erudite ermine,
“There’s one thing I cannot determine:
When a girl wears my coat,
She’s a person of note.
When I wear it, I’m called only vermin.”

The appeal of fur- I saw some old furs in a second hand shop and they felt fantastic, but I don’t think I could bring myself to wear one… though it seems a waste as they are already dead, killed for someone in another era, but still valuable for warmth now what ever your feelings about it all.
If you eat meat, why not wear fur? I imagine you wear leather shoes?
The difference I think is in the motivation for killing. For food or for long lasting material for footwear seems more acceptable than killing for a fashion statement.
Eskimos, and others from cold climates would not take kindly to that description!
I can’t afford the real thing anyway, so it’s faux for me if I do, which I don’t funnily enough. I always remember an Aunt when I was a child, she used to wear a fox draped round her neck, with the foxes head dangling down the front, it was ghastly.
I do wear leather though.
I still have the cap and gown that my late husband had from university, the gown has ermine round the neck.
The difference there, Zen is that the Eskimos would use the whole animal… food, fur and leather.
Ermine would be killed purely for vanity fur, not keep the freezing cold out fur.
Two snowmen in a garden.
One says to the other..
“Hey, can you smell carrots?”
Boom Boom. Ayyyyy thank yaaaaaawwwwwww.
Sorry, Nym, doesn’t wash. Nice one, Furry.
