The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners at the airports.
It is a booth you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.
They see this as a win-win for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling. It also would eliminate the costs of a long and expensive trial. Justice would be swift. Case closed.
You are in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly
thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system . . . “Attention standby
passengers – we now have a seat available on flight number XXXX. Shalom.”
Hats off to the Israelis.
Brilliant
Thinking outside the box? In this case, inside.
If ’twere only true.
The crap we have to go through at airports is the result of looking for the wrong things – devices instead of terrorists. Anyone actually flown El Al? That’s the way t do it. Pre-screening, behavioural profiling and humint collection by trained security officers. None of this strip the West Indian Granddad down to his shirt while the dalek behind him sails through. (Personal experience, want the story?)
Bravo: or let really shady-looking Arabs with fishy bags walk by while forcing a disabled grandmother to crawl through a security gate because they took her cane away and wouldn’t lift a finger to help her and wouldn’t let her husband help her up, either.
Yep!
