Good news

Would you like to hear some really, really, really, good news?

I’m reminded of that sense of victory in Good Will Hunting when Will gets the girl’s phone number!

Will: Do you like apples?
Clark: Yeah.
Will: Well, I got her number. How do you like them apples?

That’s how I felt yesterday, let me explain…

Most of you here know that my wife and I do our utmost to create awareness about Autism down here, help the local school, run the support organization and lately trying to plan an adult care center.

It’s difficult trying to run a charity from home, we thought that a full time office was required along with the necessary infrastructure (staff, furniture, telephones, computer, signage etc.) We think that with the infrastructure in place it might be easier to move forward, support the school more efficiently and perhaps attain our dream of an adult care facility.

So, a couple of years ago we started the lengthy form filling, meetings, negotiations with our local Lottery Board, set out our plans for the concept of an office and requested funding, guess what?

 

 

How do you like them apples?

 

Next step (to quote Buzz Lightyear) ‘the adult care center and beyond!’

(Divide the number by about 10½ to get pounds = ±£41,000 ! :))

  6. Evening everybody, thanks, good grief no activity on here for an hour, I write a ‘Good news’ story and it’s like the starting gun and the Grand National 🙂

    We need an extra nought on the number for the center, but hopefully we’ll get there 😉

    My thanks to one and all for the genuine good wishes from all of you, I know that most will remember my first blogs on the subject, our passion hasn’t waned, it’s a long road but it looks like we might just get a bit further down the road this year then we did last year!

    Personally, I can’t see any difference between the response hereon and the one on MyT. Both equally warm, in my opinion. May be missing something, of course.

  15. Soutie, as apples go this is Royal Gala news, though I admit you could have done with another nought! Only last night I was talking to my friend in Cyprus who only recently has set up a school for younger kids with ASD. She has relied on some small funding from the Government. I may well go out there for a week to test the water (and the wine) and lend a hand where she is. I shall always be interested in your news of the work you are doing.

    Very recently I have had to work on a case where the key was to reveal the mind of an autistic child; where we tried to d paint a picture where one enters the child’s world. A fascinating case and one with a successful outcome, which in time I will reveal! (Soutie if I could contact you discreetly I would tell you more!)

    Anyway, congratulations. If you don’t ask, you don’t get.
