Finally the other 82,000,000 catch up.

When I was young my mum always had French cheeses. When I was young I didn’t think life could get
any better than an ash-coated French goat cheese on a freshly baked baguette with a cup of coffee.
That all changed, however, when I had my first bite of Huntsman… I never looked back. British cheeses became my standard and very rarely do I now have some at home. Now it looks as if my fellow citizens are starting to catch up with me.

This could well be the beginning of a new British Renaissance.

  1. You should introduce the ‘Ploughman’s Lunch’ – a pub meal of local cheeses, an apple, freshly baked bread and butter and pickles. Best with ‘a pint of your best, landlord, and have one yourself’.

  2. I agree Christopher, you can’t beat a good English cheese, I love that itchy feeling on the roof of your mouth with a good mature cheese too.

  3. Me I love a cheese sandwich without the bread. I eat cheese by the block. All types and countries.

The only one I really dislike is Danish Blue, too coppery for my taste.

Stilton with a glass of port yum yum, the stronger the better. Sainsburys sell the out of date Stilton at less than half price, but that is when it is at its best.

I love goat cheese as well, must say French goat cheese is better than most English goats cheeses. but then I love Feta as well (but being half Greek I would)

  4. Hi Christopher.

I love British cheese but I love cheese, and French cheese is very good too. I’m not sure there are any I have tasted that I really dislike.

  5. Huntsman, Christopher? Never heard of it, but I’ve had close encounters with the eight-legged variety. FEEG’s link doesn’t work for me, but I must follow this up. So many cheeses, so little time.

  6. As I rather wittily commented on the Telegraph site, we ought to cheddar tear for the French dairy industry.

  7. Cheese? Love it!

Rick’s comment about buying ‘out of date cheese’ made me laugh… I’ve had shop assistants here warning me that the cheese is out of date and looking utterly horrified when I say that is when it is just beginning to be edible…. 🙂

A Huntsman is a combination of Double Gloucester and Stilton.
