Akhmed Zakayev, who , fought Russia as a senior rebel commander in two wars in 1994-2000, has been granted political asylum in Britain since 2003.
Why?
He is a terrorist. He is a close associate of the deceased Aslan Maskhadov, who imposed Sharia Law on Chechnya to appease the terrorists of the Caucasian Emirate – the same Maskhadov who appointed Dokka Umarov, the man responsible for the Metro Bombings in Moscow on March 29th, and the bombing of the Nevskyi Express on November 27th 2009, to his first senior command post. A transcript of a speech by Makhadov is here:
He is also an associate of Movladi Udugov; quote: ‘Caucasus Mujahideen are not a “group”, but are the armed forces of the Caucasus Emirate’
Why on earth would we want to protect islamic terrorists whose aim is not Chechen independence, but the imposition of a regime inimical to all our professed values by naked force and violence across the Caucasus?
Yeah well,
I still say Mandela is a fcking terrorist but no-one agrees with me.
Mandela certainly isn’t the saint of popular legend, oh furry one, and there are many in South Africa, especially those who lost control of the lands their families had for centuries. (And in South Africa there are a number of places where people of European and Indian extraction were living before African tribes arrived)
I agree, Furry.
I don’t dare to comment on Africa, in case Sipu is still up. 🙂
Should have been deported to Russia where he was subject to an extradition requirement.
I expect our government gave him washing baskets full of fivers to help out too.
Long live the revolution, I don’t know which revolution, at this point any variety will do in the UK! (Except raghead)
Technically Russia still has the death penalty though there is a moratorium and no body has been executed since 1996. Perhaps that is the reason. UK law forbids extradition to a country where capital punishment is likely to be imposed. It could also be that conditions in Russian prisons are considered inhumane.
I agree wiv you guv.
Sipu. He has, however, removed himself from the UK and the jurisdiction of UK law. Personally. I don’t give a flying fig about what conditions he might find should he be incarcerated in Russia. There is an apt saying,’If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.’
He deserves what he gets.
