France & Romas

The European Commission has threatened to drag France before the European Court over the issue of Roma expulsions. Sarkozy has responded with a promise to dismantle all illegal camps in France. Italy has openly backed France, but I wonder how many others are watching from the sidelines with silent sympathy.

This is an interesting clash between the Commission, and a democratically elected government of an important member of the EU: a founder member, indeed. Sarkozy knows that the mass of French people are behind him on this, and he is not going to genuflect to Brussels too readily. My bet is on the Commission finding a fudge.

  1. Tom at least Sarky shows some nationalistic backbone. Our politicians lay back for their tummies to be tickled.

We allow these gypos, didicoys, pikies call them what you like they are the lowest of the low, They do no good and just take, to do whatever they want, in case we offend them. They can attempt to break into my place as often as they like, (they tried the skylight a few weeks ago, but I can’t say anything.

  2. If Sarky had any sense he would deport the next bunch of gypos to the steps of the Commission in Brussels and keep doing it, they would soon start screaming blue murder and change their tune.

    RR, perhaps high voltage wiring?

  3. Somone recently pointed out that nationals from another EU member state can be deported after three months as “guests” if they have not found a job and cannot prove they have enough to keep themselves. The Roma of course generally make their living from crime, but probably wouldn’t be declaring that to the authorities.

France is to be commended on its firm action. The EU commissioner should be locked in a room with a copy of the EU rules and regulations and not released until she has read them all.

A triple life sentence would take less time, Sheona.
I see this as another sign that the EU, much like the UN, is in terminal decline.
No one pays attention to their will any more. If a country really wants to do something it will simply go ahead and do it.

  5. Christina, Sarkozy has said that perhaps Luxembourg should welcome them, the home of Ms Reding, I believe.

  6. NIMBY politics again! The reality, recognised by France, is that many people are exploiting the lack of borders to indulge in a bit of criminal tourism. Here there are gangs of thieves driving around in big cars and escaping back to the East. The EU wants the cake and the ha’penny as usual.

  7. HOWEVER, Nicolulla is not the best advocate for the principles we are discussing. He has now upset Angela, claiming, allegedly falsely, that she promised to do the same in Germany. Diplomacy is a much subtler art.

Little Nickie says a lot of things which do not turn out to be true, however. This is especially the case when Germany is involved. On the other hand the German government could simply be telling him what he wants to hear to get him to shut up.

  9. About time they brought back European borders, all these Poles and semi wog Eastern types running hither and thither causing chaos, crime and eating our swans.
    Bloody ludicrous nonsense.
Frankly Hitler had it right with the gypos, what else is one supposed to do with them anyway? There isn’t a day’s work in them for love nor money, all they want to do is steal and parasite off everybody else.
    Parasites need extermination.
Sending them back to Roumania is a very soft option.

  10. France was/is a founder member of EFTA, the EEC and the EU right up to and including the point when France’s national interest becomes involved. Thereafter it is ‘La France’ un, deux et trois.

Personally, I think the Poles, Czechs, Slovaks and Hungarians are a great contribution to the British gene pool and the British economy. They are hard working, intelligent, attractive and civilized.
