I decided today that it was time I tackled some of the weeds in the garden. However, I am very wary of just grabbing hold of plants to yank them out of the ground – especially when they’ve been there for some time. Just as well I looked, this little beauty had taken up residence:

It’s a St Andrew’s Cross spider, and it is not supposed to be dangerous – but I wasn’t taking any chances!
I would imagine anyone would be cross, not just St Andrew.
🙂
A very handsome spider, Boadicea. It would have been a shame to disturb him.
Wow!
What an amazing arachnid.
I thought you antipodean lot sprayed regularly to discourage such visitors.
That IS amazing! Looks for all the world as though it’s electrocuted part of its web!!
Good pic, Boadicea 🙂
Beaut!
Isn’t St Andrews Cross blue and white?
Still a lovely shot
Amazing creature with such vivid colours.
Thanks!
Spraying in the house is one things – but outside I tend to leave them where they are until I need to do something. I was able to weed around this one, the web was not on any of the stuff I wanted out. But I had to move another one on…
