Bank Holiday Weekend

Thinking of being creative in some way over the weekend? Cooking, or constructing something? Sculpting the hedge, cutting the grass, sewing in name tags to the new school uniforms, maybe? Perhaps you’re planning to try your hand at something new? Mosaics, stained glass windows, or painting. Or maybe you’re thinking about entering a competition?

There’s one here that may fit the bill.

Deadline 31st August at midnight remains unaltered.

No time to lose. No, time to lose. Make time to stand and stare.... Did you see that?

  1. Nym, I’ve suggested on the other post that we postpone this until the hols are over or such time as the people’s Muses re-appear…… 🙂

  2. Maybe its what I have set as the comp parameters that has put folk off?
But banishing that thought, what do others think?
Shall I extend it to the middle of the month? Maybe 15th September?

By then most hols will be over.

  3. Pseu, stick to the deadline, in my opinion. Still trying to cobble together an entry and hope it will be in in time. I’m sure that others will be trying as well.

And, on behalf of my close personal friend and myself, and anybody else north of the Tweed, could I just ask you – What Bank Holiday weekend are you talking about? Must be an English/Welsh thing!

  4. HI John, sorry I forgot that it’s just us with the overcrowded roads…

Deadline stands as it is and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that a couple more at least will enter the comp over the next day or so.

  5. No Bank Hol here either but hey! The garden will be beckoning – very autumnal edge to the breeze today.

  6. 41º in the shade at three this afternoon – 39º right now. Too hot to think. Das Fürballen zonked out under patio table. Going to lie in the pool (again) thankful my duty is already done. Over and out.

  7. We set off for a walk this afternoon and it rained.
Hedgerowa full of food for free, but I didn’t take containers. Elderberries, blackberries and sloes: here I come, tomorrow.

  8. Pseu – Go back and take containers. Elderberry wine, blackberry jam and sloe gin, lots of sloe gin.

  9. I have had a good freebie today, scrumped 30lbs of plums from my neighbours today.
They were falling and the tenants there, are the usual feckless shower, too idle to pick them, so I did!
I do have an understanding with their landlord but he was 500 miles away!
With blackberries and some damsons I had collected previously I have just started 6 gallons of wine.
Just picked about 15lbs of runner beans, the third basket this week!
Now off to process for the freezer.
Sod the dead heading, can’t eat of drink the roses!

  10. I’ve had some name tags in my sewing box 27 years, somehow I think they will stay there till I die!

  11. That makes me feel better. Now there’s only ironing pile/car cleaning to feel guilty about!

  12. Halfway into the weekend, there hasn’t been a dram of creativity to be found, for love or money.

I’ve just been promoted to moderator on my regular haunt, a writing forum, and the influx of context reading and procedure to absorb has stalled whatever writing efforts I had so far.

Though I’m cooking up an itty bitty entry for here. Stay tuned.
