  1. They never were a favourite of mine, but they were successful without my admiration. A bunch of educated men who done well, musically. Like all the others of their ilk, they lived the hard life in the fast lane, the results of which has taken it’s toll. The other evening I watched another part of Beatles era; this episode centred on Brian Epstein and his affect on them. It included the Stones and a few others. The program is not so much about their music as such, more about the effects of it, and the effects they and others, had on the world in the sixties. I’d forgotten the time when the USA banned the Beatles appearing there after John Lennon’s remark “We are more popular than Jesus”; America took a very dim view of that, and people took to the streets with banners ridiculing them very loudly. It took a lot of hard work on Lennon’s part to apologise for that blunder. But, it just proves that you are never that big, never big enough to underestimate the people who made you famous; and lose their respect.

  2. The people have short memories about such trivialities Zen. It’s always amazed me how the girls fell at the feet of such ugly men, lets face it, none of the Stones won any beauty contests did they? Like them all though, they came through, and their talent still influences the masses, which can’t be bad. Up and coming bands now, possibly may never know what it’s like to have the life long following like the Stones, and the others like them, have.
